Is your job a joke? Are you broke? Is your love life DOA? Well, worry not because the Friends reunion just wrapped up filming so at least you have that to look forward to.
On Monday (April 12), the official Friends Instagram account posted a photo of the iconic Friends marquee with the caption “That’s a wrap! 🎬 Could we BE anymore excited!? Friends: The Reunion is coming to @hbomax. #friendsreunion,” after more than a year since the first reunion announcement.

The reunion special was originally planned to be made available on HBO Max when the platform first launched in May 2020 but of course, due to the pandemic, the entire entertainment industry had to put all projects on hold.
Since then, the creators, crew, and cast have been trying to figure out the best and safest way to film the reunion special. They didn’t want to opt to film it via Zoom as they thought it wouldn’t be as special as something filmed in person.
Thankfully, they were able to figure something out, and the six original cast members; Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Courteney Cox (Monica), Matt LeBlanc (Joey), Matthew Perry (Chandler), and David Schwimmer (Ross) were all together for the first time since the iconic show originally wrapped in 2004.
Although HBO Max has yet to announce an official release date for the reunion special, here is everything we know about it and how you can watch it.
What will the reunion special be about?
HBO Max has kept a lot of details about the reunion under wraps, but what we do know is that’s not going to be an actual episode of the show. No one will be reprising their roles as their respective characters, but rather will be having a roundtable-type of conversation with each other, looking back on what it was like filming the show and reminiscing on their favorite memories together.
The reunion was also filmed using a lot of the props from the show, so even though we won’t get to see the cast in character, we’ll still be able to enjoy seeing them in a familiar environment — perhaps even on the iconic Central Perk couches.
Who returned for the reunion?
As previously mentioned, all six main Friends stars as well as creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman will appear on the reunion special. There was a Friends reunion back in 2016, but Perry wasn’t able to make it, so this will mark the first time the entire cast is back together since going off the air in 2004.
How can you watch the reunion?
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you’ll have to own a subscription to HBO Max to be able to enjoy the reunion. On the plus side, you probably already have one if you’re a diehard fan who needs to watch an episode or two of Friends before going to bed.
Can this special be any more exciting? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. Let us know how excited you are for the Friends special by leaving a reaction below or sending us your thoughts on Twitter @celebsecrets.
