The 2022 NFL Draft will kick off tomorrow night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and, as always, it is bound to be quite a show.
Round 1 of the Draft begins Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET, where the Jacksonville Jaguars will draft the first player of the 2022 class with their first overall pick. If you recall, the Jaguars also had the first pick of last year’s draft, when they drafted highly-regarded quarterback Trevor Lawrence. After finishing with the worst record in the league again in 2021, they will retain the first pick once again.
This has led to a discussion in recent years about the unfair nature of tanking, a process where a team intentionally loses games (or, at least, intentionally fails to gain talent) in order to finish last and therefore rack up draft picks. It’s a problem that the NBA and NHL don’t deal with on the same level, as they use a draft lottery, where the bottom few teams enter a lottery to determine who will have the first pick. MLB previously dealt with this problem, but in the new CBA, they agreed on a draft lottery going forward.

Regardless, the 2022 NFL Draft is sure to include some fire talent, as highly-regarded prospects and college players to the likes of Aiden Hutchinson, Travon Walker, Malik Willis, Evan Neal, Charles Cross, and Carson Strong, are set to be drafted. As mentioned, the Jaguars possess the first pick, and they are followed by the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers. The Giants and Jets both possess two first-round picks (7th and 10th, respectively) due to trading for them previously.
Of course, there is no way to predict which athletes will be drafted by which teams, and in what order. Thus, it is imperative to watch the Draft, which will begin with Round 1 tomorrow night, and then Rounds 2-3 on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, and Rounds 4-7 on Saturday at noon ET will occur.
