FX has released the first teaser of their highly-anticipated series, Impeachment: American Crime Story.
In the one-minute video, we see a woman placing a card addressed to “Bill” inside a gift box with a swanky tie. As she walks through a hallway, she carries the box while it is disguised inside a manila folder.
Throughout the long hallway, we see paintings of presidents along the wall — confirming that this woman works at the White House. As she enters the Oval Office, a receptionist calls in and says, “Mr. President, Ms. Lewinsky’s here to see you.” Just as the president is about to turn around, the teaser ends.
The upcoming third season of American Crime Story follows the infamous affair between former President Bill Clinton and his 22-year-old intern Monica Lewinsky. The affair led to a drastic scandal that occurred in 1998. By the end of that year, Clinton was impeached for committing perjury.
Created by Ryan Murphy, the series stars Beanie Feldstein (Monica Lewinsky), Clive Owen (Bill Clinton), Sarah Paulson (Linda Tripp), Edie Falco (Hillary Clinton), Annaleigh Ashford (Paula Jones), and Billy Eichner (Matt Drudge).
In a turn of events, Variety reported yesterday (August 5) that Cobie Smulders would be replacing Betty Gilpin in the role of Ann Coulter. Gilpin dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
The anthology series focuses on true crime stories every season. Previous seasons include The People v. O.J. Simpson and The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Both shows earned several Emmy Awards in their respective years.
