Windey confessed to The View, “I always want to live my truth and my story. So, I have been seeing someone for a couple months, and I’ve been keeping it a little more private, because it is a bigger story and a bigger conversation, ‘cause I’m dating a girl.”

The Illinois native appeared in season 19 of The Bachelorette, season 26 of The Bachelor and season 31 of Dancing with the Stars. It was after filming these productions where the realization really hit her and it took a good chunk of time to accept that decision.

Windey continues, “I think it was always a whisper in me that just got louder and louder, and I didn’t really know how to pay attention to it.”

”I think when this happens, there’s some shame obviously surrounding it. I think I had to a little bit navigate through the shame, ‘What is it? Where is it coming from?’ But ultimately, I always want to just do me, do what I want, figure it out later,” she continued.

When asked if girls are Windey’s future, Windey responded with a cheeky answer.

“I think it’s just my girl. She’s so special,” she confessed. “She makes me feel so safe, so loved, a love that I always wanted going on these dating shows.”

Windey first made her television debut on The Bachelor’s 26th season where she finished as a runner-up alongside Rachel Recchia competing for Clayton Echard’s heart. Both Recchia and Windey then went on to be co-bachelorettes for the first time in Bachelorette history for Season 19.
