Get To Know ‘Chicken Girls’ Amelie Anstett (Q&A)

A dancer, a model, an actress, a YouTube personality–there’s truly nothing that 17-year-old Amelie Anstett can’t do and she’s only getting started.

Anstett is a Florida native and got her first big break in the entertainment industry when she won a dance competition to join Justin Bieber on stage during his Purpose Tour in 2016. Although she started dancing when she was only seven, having the opportunity to dance on stage with Bieber was what really impacted her decision to pursue her dream.

“That moment changed my life forever and allowed me to really see my true passion and calling. There was a YouTube submission contest, and I submitted a self-tape of one of Nick Demoura’s dances, Anstett shared. “A few weeks later, we received the email saying I had been chosen. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life.”

Along with this big break, Anstett also got cast as Sadie on Brat TV’s YouTube series, Chicken Girls, which just started its eighth season, and Chicken Girls: The Docuseries. Sadie is the sassy, snobby, Texan girlfriend of TK (Hayden Summerall) on the show–the complete opposite of Anstett.

Anstett is working on tons of new projects this year ranging from new acting opportunities to more inspiring YouTube content, and even a possible merch drop.

We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Amelie to see what other great things she accomplishes this year. Read the rest of our Q&A with her down below where she shares with us what it was like to dance with JoJo Siwa, who her acting inspiration is, and what she hopes to accomplish this year!

CS: You dance, model, act, and are a YouTube personality. You’re quite a force! Out of all of these, is there one that you love more than another, or do they all share your love equally?

AA: “Ooo, what a fun question. Being able to pursue my passion as a career is something that I cherish every day. My favorite aspects of these jobs are the fact that I get to meet and become friends with so many amazing individuals, that inspire me daily. To be honest I actually don’t have a favorite out of all of them. Of course, dance will always have a super special place in my heart because it’s how I got into the business, however, I love them all equally.”

CS: So you started dancing professionally when you were seven. How did that passion start for you? Was anyone in your life involved with dancing or did you discover your love for dance on your own?

AA: “Yess! So I began to dance at the age of seven when there were no gymnastics/acrobatic studios in my town. However, there was a dance studio, so I started to take dance classes. At first, it was just one or two classes, but soon, teachers were calling my mom and inviting me to participate in their other classes. Sometimes things work in funny ways. As I got older and started competing, it became a lot more hours of training. The rest is history!”

CS: After dancing for so long, you got your big break when you won a contest to dance with Justin Bieber on his Purpose Tour. That’s absolutely incredible! How was that experience for you?

AA: “Ah yes, my big break into the entertainment industry was when I was 12 years old and danced on stage with Justin Bieber. That moment changed my life forever and allowed me to really see my true passion and calling. There was a YouTube submission contest, and I submitted a self-tape of one of Nick Demoura’s dances. A few weeks later, we received the email saying I had been chosen. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life.”

CS: Did you learn anything from dancing with Justin that you’ve kept with you throughout your career?

AA: “Justin taught me and is teaching me so many things, and he has truly made such an impact in my life. I’ll never forget him tell me to ‘always believe in myself, follow my dreams, and remember my roots.’”

CS: You’ve also danced with JoJo Siwa. How was that like for you?

AA: “Dancing with JoJo is so so fun. She is seriously such a sweet girl, and I am so grateful I get to train alongside such inspirational forces.”

CS: As we’ve mentioned, besides dancing you also act. What got you into acting?

AA: “I really found a passion for acting when I started coming out to LA when I was about 15 years old. A lot of casting directors, and other individuals would ask me if I could act, and that’s when I really decided to hop into it.”

CS: What has been your favorite memory since you started acting in Chicken Girls?

AA: “Oh my goodness I have so many amazing memories from filming Chicken Girls. I really just loved all the fun things the cast and I would do behind the scenes. We all just have so much fun on set.”

CS: Is there anyone’s acting career that has inspired you?

AA:Reese Witherspoon for sure! She is such an inspiration to me and my career. I would love to get insight and advice from her. She has always kept her integrity. I admire her tremendously and everything she has achieved. I love that she thrived as an actress, and she also made sure to get her education and degree, and continue to grow her career into production and writing, all while balancing motherhood and staying beautiful and fit. She is a very intelligent woman, and I enjoy her joyous and direct leadership style.”

CS: Do you have any future acting projects down the line that we can look forward to?

AA: “I have several projects in the works and was actually in the middle of working on one back in March before the production had to halt because of the virus. I would love to say more about the projects, but as you know, we usually aren’t allowed to say too much about them until closer to their release. But I am so excited for everyone to see everything that is coming up. I am also working hard to release new youtube content of my daily stretch routines, dance technique, monologue prepping, and more. My fans have been asking to see some of this content from me, and I am excited to start sharing. I’ve also had several brands approach me to start working on some possible merch, so you might want to keep your eyes out for that!”

CS: Since you also model, do you have any dreams for that part of your career? Maybe any dream bookings you want to land?

AA: “I would love to have the opportunity to model for huge brands and be on the cover of magazines, etc. Super excited and ready for all opportunities.”

CS: What are your goals for this year? Either career-wise or personal.

AA: “I have many BIG career goals, and I am so thankful to be given the opportunities and have such an amazing support system. I am a big believer in ‘everything happens for a reason,’ so I continue to follow my path and work incredibly hard to make my dreams come true. One of my big goals is to be able to use my platform to spread positivity and lift people up. I love interacting with my fans and those who support me because I want them to know I support them just the same. I think that this generation is different from the rest, and I would love to use my motto, ‘be original,’ to share that it is amazing to be who you truly are.”

CS: Since we’ve been in quarantine for over a year now, have you gotten into any new hobbies? Or have you learned something new about yourself?

AA: “I have actually started to find a passion for yoga, and cycling over quarantine which has been so fun and different.”

CS: Thank you again for talking with us. Before we go, since we are Celeb Secrets, is there anything you could share with us that people would be surprised to know about you?

AA: “Most people would be surprised to know the backstory of my name, Amelie. I was named after the 2001 romantic French-German comedy, Amélie. My parents have been quoted as saying they felt the movie had great energy and loved the storyline and knew that I needed to be given a special name, so they chose Amelie. Most people don’t know that I am half Latin and that my father is actually from Hawaii. I absolutely love the originality of my name, and love that it goes with my motto, ‘be original.'”
