Austin and Marideth Telenko, known by their six million TikTok followers as Cost n’ Mayor, are “a lovable dance team whose routines are as synchronous as their couple-hood,” ultimately creating content that is sure to put a smile on your face.
“East Coast transplants to Los Angeles, Cost n’ Mayor’s passion for life and love for each other radiates through their dancing and original choreography,” all while simultaneously “draw[ing] inspiration from TV, animation, and other art forms to infuse goofy, comedic, characteristic flare into their unique and complex choreography.”
Whether the beloved duo is dancing to popular ringtones, theme songs, or even washing machine noises, their videos are truly one-of-a-kind.
Just moments after their morning dance party with HappyKelli and Adam Rose, Celeb Secrets reporter Melanie Rooten caught up with Austin and Marideth backstage at VidCon 2023, where they spilled TONS of behind-the-scenes secrets about their content, their sustainable clothing line and more.

“We never had any intentions of like, you know, getting as big as we are today, but when we started posting it was just such a cool concept that this entire app was focused around dance and it was dance trends and it was opening up this like door for pretty much anybody,” Austin explained, ultimately revealing the origin of Cost n’ Mayor’s social media success.
Marideth proceeded to chime in, sharing with Celeb Secrets, “We come from a more mainstream industry background. We were dancing professionally before we kind of took to TikTok together, and we always say that entertainment is completely the same and it should be cared for equally, you know, on the stage, on the big screen, on your phone screen… Entertainment is entertainment no matter where it is.”
“It’s fun to bring sort of that background of industry training and professionalism to a new space, because I do think that it’s so important that entertainment be quality entertainment everywhere that it’s shown,” she concluded with a grin.
While the couple consistently creates TikTok videos with one another, Austin and Marideth often collaborate other content creators as well, such as Scott Hoying, Derek Hough, Hayley Erbert, Montana Tucker, Nick Kosir and more.
“I love working with our friends… If we wanna call up our friend and do something with them, we just do it, and it’s so much fun. There’s not a lot that goes into that thought process, we just love our friends, and so whenever they wanna come to our house and have a good time and dance around, we’re like, ‘Absolutely! We should do that,'” Marideth spilled.
While the beloved duo absolutely LOVES pairing up with their friends for a dance party, collaborating with other content creators is not as easy as it may seem…
“This is already a collab, so when we collab with other people, it is sort of challenging… We love to just simply work together, even though it is fun to work with our friends, but we don’t necessarily like bust down the doors of collaboration all the time because we are a constant collaboration,” Marideth revealed to us.
“I also think it’s important to let collaborations be organic. That’s what’s gonna make like really fun content. We just like to be silly and have fun, and we wanna make sure that is portrayed through all of our content, whether it’s just us or with the collaboration,” Austin added.
With dancing aside, Cost n’ Mayor have their very own clothing line with SewSewYou, a company that “partners with dynamic influencers and celebrities to develop clothing that’s meaningful and sustainably made,” which they are extremely passionate about.
“Everything is completely sewn to order, which means that there’s no like excess ending up in any kind of landfill… You order a piece from our collection and it’s sewn specifically for you, and then it gets into you and it’s like your own little thing. Your own little custom order, which I think is so sweet, and it makes sure that we don’t have a lot of wasted excess materials.” Marideth dished.
She continued passionately, “All of the materials are also recycled materials that wouldn’t have gotten used anyway, so no waste and no worries!”
The couple proceeded to share some exclusive news with Celeb Secrets, which is that they are “going to drop a new collection probably in a month or so,” doubling as their favorite collection yet.
“We obviously were very like traditionally street-style trained, and so a lot of the sustainable clothing line inspiration comes from like old school, hip-hop… Like it’s very like retro inspired, and I think this is our most retro collection yet, which I’m really pumped about,” Marideth gushed.
She continued with a smile, “I’m so excited to dance in it, and I’m so excited for other people to dance in it and just wear it in their regular life, but it’s gonna feel so good to like do hip hop in our little retro fits” — We can’t wait to see the collection for ourselves!
