Getting to Know Sweet Taboo – The Latina Girl Group That’s Bound to Be Your New Obsession

Los Angeles-based Latina girl group Sweet Taboo recently released their single “Lil Bit” as well as the accompanying visual and we can’t get enough of it!

Consisting of singers Jen Torrejon, Sami Ramos and rapper IC Bre, the trio, who made their debut in 2019, are leaving their mark on the industry and making it known that they are here to stay.

Having amassed millions of views on TikTok and having their content shared by the likes of DJ Khaled, Kehlani, and more, “Lil Bit” highlights Sweet Taboo’s growth as a group and introduces their revamped signature sound.

“We wrote this song in the middle of quarantine and wanted to create something that brings a lil bit of confidence, a lil bit of body positivity, and a lil bit of Latin spice. It’s been so amazing seeing our fans show love for the single and dancing to it on TikTok,” the band tells Celeb Secrets exclusively.

“We have so many favorite, fun moments from the music video shoot – but our ACTUAL favorite moment happened after the shoot. Our director, V, showed our video to Bruno Mars and he said it was dope!”

We caught up with Sweet Taboo to hear all about “Lil Bit,” their foundation as a group, and what is coming up next. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to let us know what you think of the song by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets

You can connect with Sweet Taboo by giving them a follow on both Instagram and TikTok.

Celeb Secrets: Hi Sweet Taboo! Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves for our readers who might just be discovering you?

ST: “Yo! What’s good?! Que Pasa?! We are a Latina girl group from Los Angeles, we sing (Jen & Sami), she raps (ICP Bre). We have a new single out right now called “Lil Bit” that we are so excited about. We love doing covers of our favorite artists and have gotten love from Kehlani, DJ Khaled, Russ, and BIA. It was crazy to see them repost us on Instagram!”

CS: What inspired you to start a group and how would you describe your sound to someone hearing it for the first time?

ST: “We were inspired by the amazing girl groups that came before us such as TLC, Destiny’s Child, and Spice Girls. Our music is a fusion of Pop, R&B, and un poquito Español.”

CS: Congratulations on the release and success of “Lil Bit.” What has it been like seeing fan reaction to the single and the video?

ST: “Thanks so much! We wrote this song in the middle of quarantine and wanted to create something that brings a lil bit of confidence, a lil bit of body positivity, and a lil bit of Latin spice. It’s been so amazing seeing our fans show love for the single and dancing to it on TikTok.”

CS: Do you have a favorite story from filming the music video?

ST: “We have so many favorite, fun moments from the music video shoot – but our ACTUAL favorite moment happened after the shoot. Our director, V, showed our video to Bruno Mars and he said it was dope! We DIED!!!”

CS: What can we expect from Sweet Taboo for the rest of the year?

ST: “Right now, we are working on our first EP. We’ve cut some fire songs from producers Malay, Jason Evigan, Sebastian Cole, KBeaZy, and Off Da Grid. We are also working on our live show and can’t wait to perform for our fans!”

CS: Lastly, since we are Celeb Secrets, can you each share a secret talent that you have?

ST: “For sure!”

ICP Bre: “I am a killer shuffler – LMFAO ain’t got nothin’ on me.”

Sami: “I’m a bedroom DJ, coming to a festival near you soon.”

Jen: “I’m secretly Selena Gomez’s body double for brand photoshoots.”
