Gigi Hadid is requesting for privacy when it comes to photos of her and Zayn Malik’s daughter, Khai.
On Monday evening (July 5), Hadid posted a letter to her social media platforms explaining her plea to the media. She starts off by talking about how her and Malik can’t protect Khai from the world as she gets older. She says their 9-month-old daughter has been enjoying seeing the world and has started to lift up the sun shade on her stroller.
“She doesn’t understand why she’s covered in the city, or what I’ve wanted to protect her from,” Hadid says. “I also want her to see the most amazing city in the world + the beautiful and diverse people that walk down the streets of NYC … that is, without the stress of the media circus that comes with parents who are public figures.”
Hadid then directly addresses the paparazzi, press, and fan accounts. She asks them to blur their daughter’s face if she is captured in photos. She says, “I know it’s an extra effort — but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do… and I hope this can continue the conversation to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family.”
The model thanks the paparazzi who have consistently respected her wishes to take photos from a distance when she’s out and about with her daughter in New York City. She concludes by thanking those who take the time to read her letter and adds, “For a child, I can imagine that close or dramatic paparazzi frenzies must be overwhelming and disorienting… it still is as an adult that understands and deals with it often.”
Hadid gave birth to Khai back in September 2020. She recently celebrated Malik’s first Father’s Day with a sweet post on Instagram. She gushed over how lucky they are to have him saying, “I’m so grateful for all the lil bits of her that are you ☺️.”
