Hailey Bieber is opening up about body shaming and how it’s effected her life while growing up in the spotlight.
The model recently appeared as a guest on Addison Rae‘s podcast, That Was Fun? with Addison & Sheri to talk about how the Internet can be a toxic place for women’s bodies.
The 24-year-old sat down with the TikToker to discuss how they’ve both been feeling insecure lately, with Addison opening up about one particular moment at a pilates class.
“The other day I did a class, it was kind of a time where I was feeling super insecure. I wasn’t happy with my body, I was not in a good space, especially just that week. Sometimes it’s just the worst. I got into the class, and I almost started crying. It was a bit overwhelming. I don’t feel confident in that moment,” Rae says.
Bieber responds to Rae and tells her the “Internet is the worst place” for bodies because “there’s so much body shaming.” “It can make you feel really insecure,” Bieber noted.
Hailey recalls a moment where she didn’t feel confident in the workout outfit she was wearing. “It wasn’t my most flattering little workout outfit,” she explains. She says she saw the photo of herself leaving class, in the outfit, and someone made a not so nice comment about it.
“I happened to come across this article, where they thrive off trying to put people down. I was just looking at the photo of leaving class, and I saw a comment. Someone said said ‘she gained a massive amount of weight.’ And every other thing was ‘she must be pregnant,’ Bieber shares.
The 24 year-model mentions how as she gets older, her body has been changing. She says that she’s “not 19 anymore” and her body has changed, “even in this last year.”
“As you grow up and you become more of a woman, your body fills out in different ways. I think I have more hips now than I ever did when I was younger,” Bieber says.
