The fight for the iron throne is back!
HBO Max has officially released a new trailer for House of the Dragon, the prequel to the hit phenomenon tv show, Game of Thrones. Giving fans a new look into the upcoming series that is sure to be filled with drama, battles, and of course, dragons.
The trailer begins with King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) struggling with the inner battle of choosing who he would like to inherit the iron throne. By blood, his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), is the rightful heir to the throne. However, many are wary to crown her, as there has never been a woman in power. Characters are instead asking whether the king’s brother, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) would be a better fit for the throne. In fact, in the trailer, Daemon already sees himself as the rightful heir to the throne.
Things also start to get a little complicated when Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), is clearly conspiring to somehow take the iron throne from Rhaenyra. And as fans will see, many are willing to fight to get what they want.
After Game of Thrones ended in 2019, many fans were hopeful that the world of Westeros would make a return. And after three years, it looks like they won’t have to wait much longer as House of the Dragon is set to premiere on August 21 exclusively on HBO Max.
