Breakout rapper Ice Spice was left surprised when Dove Cameron announced her name for Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV VMAs. The fast-rising star secured the prestigious accolade on Tuesday evening (Sept. 12) during the televised affair at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Cameron took home the prize last year, placing her on radars nationwide. “Honored to pass the torch to an amazing rising star,” said Cameron before calling Ice Spice to the stage.
The competitive category also included – Renee Rapp, Pleso Pluma, PinkPantheress, Kaliii, and GloRilla.
While strutting to the stage, Ice Spice was seen wiping tears away. She sported a glamorous white tutu and statement jewelry, which represented
her bold personality.
“Y’all thank you so much, thank you MTV.” uttered Ice Spice. “I love you guys so much. Of course God, without God none of this would be possible. Thank you guys. I love you so much,” she added.
The soon-to-be hitmaker kept her speech short and sweet before leaving the stage with the iconic trophy.
