Payton Moormeier is not your typical young breakthrough star, he has entrepreneurship running through his veins and a creative drive that sets him apart from others in Hollywood. Even before the talented musician and TikTok creator turned 17-years-old, he generated over 4.6 million followers on Instagram and 13.8 million on TikTok for his pop and alternative sound.
For the Georgia-born and North Carolina-raised singer and songwriter, fame did not happen overnight. In fact, he has kept his head down to focus on his music career for several years. Moormeier understands firsthand, the hard work, dedication, time, and most importantly the challenges many young creatives face as independent artists. Therefore, the recently signed musician launched his “Artist in You” scholarship which will reward a $2,500 prize to a musician in need.
“I made it just to raise money and give somebody a chance and opportunity to do what I’m doing because it’s really hard, not cheap, and any little boost I can give to any other independent artists would just make me feel really good,” says Moormeier in an exclusive Celeb Secrets interview.
When we asked Moormeier if he had any advice for young inspiring musicians, he told us that they need to follow their hearts and just make it happen. “There’s nobody on this planet that can help you more than yourself. If you want to do it, just go ahead and be consistent with it,” he shares.
The emerging Hollywood star practices what he preaches, as he is constantly in the studio producing off-the-charts music that takes the emotions of his listeners on a wild rollercoaster ride. Payton is known for his transparency within his lyrics and his recently released single “Nevermind” is a prime example that he wears his heart on his sleeve.
“All of the songs I have out right now are from stuff that I’ve been through,” says Payton about his songwriting process. “ ‘Nevermind’ was about a relationship – like most of my songs. It was about being stuck and you’re kind of hooked in this relationship, because of how you are. You can’t leave because you’re too attached. But, you know, you can’t say anything and you are kind of stuck in this endless loop.”
Moormeier worked alongside Nick Lopez, a talented songwriter in Los Angeles to construct the buzz-worthy alternative single that is different from previous songs he has released. “I don’t think I’ve ever sung like how I was singing on ‘Nevermind,’ says the musician to CS. “It’s just got some crazy energy behind it and I think it’s starting to show off where my voice is going and like the progress I made through the past years of making music.”
The average listener could pop in their headphones and hear his growth as a vocalist or watch the animated music video that will take you on a journey through a trippy dessert. However, the artist executed the music video and storyline correctly, to the point where the viewer will get a sense of his conflicting feelings he was struggling with internally.
As Payton Moormeier continues to become the next Justin Bieber, Post Malone, or even Machine Gun Kelly, he warns Celeb Secrets that he is trying to get EP’s, albums, and music videos going for 2021. Like everyone, he believes that 2020 held him back as an artist and now he’s ready to go full force ahead.
