Issa Rae has married her longtime beau, Louis Diame.
On Monday (July 26), Rae shocked the world with photos from her wedding posted to Instagram. In the caption, the actress teased that the celebratory event was an “impromptu photoshoot.” She mentioned that her best friends came to join her for the shoot “coincidentally” wearing the same dress. To conclude the joke, she said, “Then I took a flew flicks with Somebody’s Husband.”
The Insecure star’s wedding took place in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, which was confirmed by the location tag on her post. The commune is located in the Southeastern part of France. Additionally, she thanked French-based wedding planner, White Eden Weddings, for helping her make her dream wedding come to life.
According to People, Rae was dressed in a custom Vera Wang gown while Diame wore a red Dolce & Gabbana suit. Vera Wang tweeted details about the customization of the dress. They said she “chose a custom ivory strapless sweetheart neckline ballgown with hand placed Chantilly lace accented by hand sewn crystal beading and a light ivory chapel length veil with hand placed Chantilly lace.”
Rae also changed into a second custom Vera Wang gown for the reception. “For the reception, Issa chose a custom lily white Italian silk crepe plunging V-neck A-line gown with a layered tulle skirt accented by a dramatic front slit,” said Vera Wang.
Rae and Diame’s relationship has been kept under wraps for quite some time. However, in 2019, Rae’s Insecure co-stars Yvonne Orji and Jay Ellis confirmed the couple’s engagement during an interview at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards. The two actors expressed their excitement for Rae’s next step in her relationship.
