Jabbawockeez Return to the Latin Grammys for the First Time in 12 Years – “It’s A Big Deal” (Exclusive)

The Jabbawockeez made their return to the Latin Grammys stage for the first time in twelve years on Thursday (November 17), and their appearance was definitely one to remember.

The popular dance troupe shared with stage with Puerto Rican superstar and eight-time nominee Rauw Alejandro for an out-of-this-world performance, which featured a songs like “Lejos Del Cielo,” “Mas De Una Vez,” and “Punto 40” from the new record Saturno, in addition to his Vice Versa hit “Desperados.”

“It definitely is a big deal for us to have been able to remain relevant,” the group told Celeb Secrets in a statement ahead of their performance. “It’s always a good time when we party with our Latin familia.”

Staying on brand with the futuristic theme, Alejandro and the dance troupe brought the heat with explosive dance moves, ending with a stage full of flames and a standing ovation from the audience.

Celeb Secrets caught up with the troupe ahead of their big Latin Grammys performance, where they talked about returning to the stage for the first time in over a decade, performing in Las Vegas, and how TikTok helped them build an unbelievable platform on social media.

Celeb Secrets: You all performed at the Latin Grammys in 2010 with Nelly Furtado; how exciting is it to return to the Latin Grammys stage 12 years later?

Jabbawockeez: “It definitely is a big deal for us to have been able to remain relevant.  It’s always a good time when we party with our Latin familia.”

CS: Can you give us a hint as to who you will be performing with?

J: “You’ll have to tune in to find out… sorryyyy!”

CS: Many Latin music superstars like Pitbull, Maluma, and Wisin are set to perform at the show; who are you most excited to see and why?

J: “Each artist worked hard to get there so we are excited to see all of them!”

CS: With the show taking place in Las Vegas, do you have a favorite city to perform in?

J: “There hasn’t been a city where we didn’t have a connection with the crowd! It’s been all love everywhere”

CS: With you all having a residency at the MGM Grand in Vegas, what will be different in your performance at the Latin Grammys versus the performances you all put on for the residency?

J: “For starters, some of the biggest differences would definitely be the production elements, the wardrobe, and the length of the show. But one thing that will always be the same is the fire-breathing dance moves!!”

CS: What do you all hope to express to the audience through your performance?

J: “The music!! It’s always and will always be about the music. It’s the universal language.”

CS: Can you talk to us about the impact TikTok has had on your group in terms of gaining exposure?

J: “Social media in general has been a great tool to keep us tapped in with pop culture. We also like that we have a platform where our art can have an instant, global reach.”

CS: What was it like performing at the Red Bull BC One World Final in New York City?

J: “In short, AMAZING! With New York being the Mecca for hip-hop, it was a big honor to get the response we got from the audience. It was definitely a landmark experience.”

CS: Can you name a dream musician or dancer you’d love to perform with?

J: “It would be out of this world if Rauw Alejandro asked us to rock a show with him…”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any secrets about the group (fun facts) that our audience wouldn’t know?

J: “Our first show/production, titled “Mus.I.C”, is based on the concept that “Music” is the “Muse we see”… get it?”
