Week nine in the NFL will kick off with a contest between the league’s current heavyweight, the 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles, as they take on one of the lower-tier teams in the one-win Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.

This type of game may not sound exciting to some due to the significant difference in records between the ball clubs but something that may excite some football fans out there is that this smells like a trap game. A trap game is basically when one opponent comes into a contest being overconfident and therefore lets their guard down, which translates to not respecting their opponent. With an opponent like the Texans, they have nothing to lose. They will do whatever it takes to win this game as they have one win on the year, as previously mentioned. Therefore, it will be a very telling game about what kind of winning mindset the Philadelphia Eagles have. Are they a showoff type of team? Or do they play each game the same regardless of records? We shall see tonight.
As for the Texans, the team will be without their top two wideouts in, Michigan product Nico Collins and former Rams star Brandin Cooks; Collins has already been ruled out of the primetime showdown with a groin injury, and as for Cooks, he will not be playing tonight, but it seems as if has to do with some ill-will, he has towards the organization right now and not due to an injury.
Brandin Cooks isn’t in the building today for the #Texans. They’ll continue to talk and try for a reset after tonight’s game. https://t.co/JpIv9X24hY

Something of note is that Cooks was hoping to be traded this week before Tuesday’s trade deadline, but a deal never went through; some reported teams interested in Cooks included the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers, to name a few. With the lack of a trade being executed for Cooks, it can be assumed that interested teams were unwilling to take on Cooks’ contract as the 29-year-old is guaranteed to earn $18 million next season.
No trade for #Texans WR Brandin Cooks, source said. There were talks. But nothing came of it.

Although it has been an unpleasant season for Houston, there has been a bright spot in rookie running back Dameon Pierce. The former Florida Gators tailback currently has the twelfth most rushing yards in the NFL at 539 yards; the fourth-round pick sits one spot ahead of 49ers superstar Christian McCaffrey. It will be fun to see Pierce go up against this tremendous Eagles defense.

As for Philadelphia, what they have been doing has been working, but a significant key in this one is to force quarterback Davis Mills and the Houston Texans passing offense to beat you rather than allowing Pierce to have multiple opportunities to keep the Texans in the game.
As for some predictions in this one, we believe the Philadelphia Eagles will take a significant early-lead in this one followed by a late-game comeback attempt by the Houston Texans that will fall just short, as we have the Eagles beating Houston 25-19; we also believe Jalen Hurts will have at least one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in the contest.
