Jenny Lewis is coming back with her first album in four years!
The new album, Joy’all is set to release June 9 and is being celebrated with the release of her new single “Psycho.”
“There are no hard feelings,” she casually announces in the heavenly chorus. “How I can help you?/It’s time I get away.”
Lewis has made a name for herself as a solo artist over the past decade, with stellar albums like ‘Rabbit Fur Coat, Acid Tongue,The Voyager, and On the Line, however the artist is most famously known for her time spent as singer-songwriter for Rilo Kiley and The Postal Service. Since her debut as a soloist, Lewis has taken on a utopian sound with her music that has everyone feeling like they’re on cloud nine. So, we’re sure that Joy’All will leave have us entering another dreamy realm.
Joy’All marks Lewis’ fifth solo album, following the exceptional On the Line – which was release in 2019.
“I started writing some of these songs on the road, pre-pandemic…and put them aside as the world shut down,” she said in a statement. “And then from my home in Nashville in early 2021, I joined a week-long virtual workshop with a handful of amazing artists, hosted by Beck.”
She continued, “The challenge was to write one song every day for seven days, with guidelines from Beck. The guidelines would be prompts like ‘write a song with 1-4-5 chord progression,’ ‘write a song with only cliches,’ or ‘write in free form style.'”
She then follows by saying that the first song she submitted to the group was ‘Puppy and a Truck,’ a single the artist released in last 2021.

Joy’all was produced by Dave Cobb and engineered and mixed by Greg Koller. Also completing the LP’s list of contributors is Jon Brion, who “graciously added to the album,” according to a statement. The album includes Lewis’ ‘Puppy and a Truck.’
“Dave works fast and we cut the bulk of the record with his incredible house band — Nate Smith, Brian Allen and Cobb on guitar, and myself on acoustic guitar & vocals — live on the floor in a couple of weeks. Jess Wolfe came back to the studio to provide background vocals on the record and then Greg Leisz and Jon Brion added pedal steel, B-Bender guitar and Chamberlin, respectively, back in L.A..”
