“‘boys think we’re crazy’ was a song I knew I always wanted to write. This song is about the struggles of opening up to your friends and family about what battles you are going through, and how low you felt at times,” she shares. “I personally have felt like a strong force for my friends, and I didn’t ever want to burden them with my feelings. While I was feeling down about myself, I didn’t want to come off as weak to anyone because I wanted to be that confident friend and I knew I could be that ‘I’m totally ok I have my s–t handled’ person. I used to think vulnerability meant weakness, and until pretty recently I didn’t understand that it’s really what makes someone strong.”
“I feel like women and young girls, throughout history, have been taught to believe we are less superior to men and only recently has this started to change. As a child I always tried to compete with the boys, in sports and in school, in order to prove myself. This song is for my girls, for anyone who has felt this way. I hope it lifts people up!”
