Jodie Turner-Smith has become a victim of jewelry theft during her stay in Cannes, France, for the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
According to Variety, Turner-Smith’s room at the Marriott Hotel on the Croisette was broken into on Friday (July 9). The actress was having breakfast elsewhere when the robbery occurred, and the thieves stole several thousand euros worth of jewelry, including her mother’s wedding ring.
Shortly after the incident happened, the actress and her one-year-old daughter were moved to the Majestic Hotel, where she was also issued a security detail who has been by her side as she travels throughout the city.
Turner-Smith attended the annual film festival for the first time to promote her film, After Yang. During the premiere last Thursday (July 8), the star walked the red carpet in a beautiful gown accompanied with eye-catching jewels from Gucci High Jewelry.
It is presumed that the actress was targeted following her appearance, however, she had already returned the pieces after the event.
Jodie took to Twitter to express her disappointment over the situation, saying, “didn’t think I would be spending 2.5 hours in the police station on my final day in Cannes, but here we are… 🥴.”
