No, it’s not a Lie, Lie, Lie! Joshua Bassett just dropped another track, Only A Matter Of Time, from his highly-anticipated self-titled EP set to come out later this year!
Bassett recently released another track off his EP, Lie Lie Lie, that had fans only excited for more from the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star, and so he delivered.
The one-shot music video shows Bassett on an abandoned railroad as he sings the intoxicating, piano melodic song that tells the story of someone who has been running their mouth of the singer, and how it’s “only a matter of time” that their lies and hatred will catch up to them.
The singer/songwriter revealed that he wrote the song back in the summer of 2020 when there was “a moment in time where social media was bringing a lot of darkness to [his] life.” He continues by saying, “There’s good that comes from social media, but it’s also become a place where people can say anything about anyone, no matter how false or damaging with no accountability.”
Bassett has recently been trending all over social media due to the fact that he is part of this current generation’s celebrity love triangle after HSMTMTS co-star, Olivia Rodrigo, released her Billboard Hot 100 song, drivers license, and caused speculation over their rumored relationship and split because of a “blonde girl,” rumored to be pop singer Sabrina Carpenter.
Carpenter released a song titled, Skin, last week which fans lead to believe was in response to Rodrigo’s song.
The Internet has created its own take on the relationships between the three young and talented individuals and has made very expressive opinions of how they feel about them, making the timing of this song release a good message for people to remind them that there are still human beings behind that screen.
Bassett hopes this song serves that message well and hopes that “we all be much kinder to one another!”
