Julia Lester and Frankie Rodriguez Tease Season 3 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Talk New Set and Cast Members (Exclusive)

Summer is officially here, which means it’s time for not only fun in sun, but also new episodes of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+.

Set to drop its first episode on July 27th, the Wildcats head to Camp Shallow Lake — a sleepaway camp in California — this season, and according to the streaming giant, they are primed for an unforgettable summer ripe with romance, curfew-less nights and a taste of the great outdoors.

With a high-stakes production of “Frozen” on the horizon AND a drama-filled “docu-series” of the production in the works, the Wildcats will attempt to show who is “best in snow” without leaving anyone out in the cold.

“It was super fun stepping out of our comfort zone,” Julia Lester, who plays Ashlyn, told Celeb Secrets reporter Ilana Epstein exclusively in a virtual junket. “Camp brings so many different qualities to the show that we never thought we’d experience.”

In addition to a new setting, the series will welcome six new characters, including Adrian Lyles as “Jet,” Camp Shallow Lake’s mysterious new kid, and Saylor Bell (“I Didn’t Do It”) as “Maddox,” a bright-eyed, quick-witted “techie,” who always follows the rules; along with Disney alums Corbin Bleu, who will guest star as himself; Jason Earles, who will play Dewey Wood, the stone-faced, killjoy Camp Director of Camp Shallow Lake; and Meg Donnelly who will to play Val, a confident and funny college student and longtime camper-turned-Counselor-in-Training, who is ready to choreograph the summer production of “Frozen.” JoJo Siwa and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are also confirmed for special cameo roles.

“I think [Adrian and Saylor] arrived to remind everyone that there’s so much talent always waiting in the wings,” show creator and executive producer Tim Federle told Celeb Secrets.

“To see [them] embrace us and our East High culture was very sweet,” Frankie Rodriguez, who plays Carlos, added,  with Saylor chiming in, “I feel so lucky to have been able to work with people like that.”
