Kacey Fifield is back with a new track, “Confused,” and getting more personal with the piano-led pop ballad.
For those of you who don’t know who Fifield is, she’s a 16-year-old singer/songwriter who has had award-winning success in music and festivals. Aside from music, Fifield is active in her community, leading a Children’s Hospital Aid Club with St. Jude’s Hospital and participating in a Student of the Year fundraising campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The last time we spoke with Fifield, she was releasing her track “Last Breath” that featured American Idol star, Robbie Rosen! This time around, Rosen helped co-wrote the song, but “Confused” is entirely Fifield on the track.
“I started writing “Confused” on my own,” Fifield tells Celeb Secrets, “when Robbie came on board, he helped to describe my thoughts and feelings even further!”
“Confused” touches on the overwhelming circumstances Fifield and many of us have faced during the pandemic. Fifield pours her heart out and sings about her personal experience with the struggles she went through during this difficult time and reminds listeners that it’s going to be okay and that “everything will fade in time.”
When asked if “Confused” was a sneak peek of what’s to come from the singer/songwriter, she didn’t spoil too much, wanting to surprise her listeners, but she did say she feels “like [she] is definitely in [her] zone with “Confused” and loving it.”
Fifield reveals to Celeb Secrets what genre of music she wants to explore, what she’s been up to outside of music, and more!

Celeb Secrets: Hi Kacey! Welcome back to Celeb Secrets, we’re so happy to have you back. How have you been?
Kacey Fifield: “Thank you for having me back! I have been great and working away on new music.”
CS: Last time when you were here with us, we talked about your song “Last Breath” which was a duet with Robbie Rosen. This time you’re back with “Confused,” a song that’s entirely you. Can you tell us a little more about the story behind the song?
KF: “Yes, of course! Writing “Confused,” I wanted to describe the struggles that various people, including myself, are facing during the currently overwhelming circumstances caused by the pandemic. The idea for the chorus first came to me while I was brushing my teeth! From there, I worked on the lyrics to the rest of the parts of the song and produced it with Robbie Rosen.”
CS: You co-wrote this song with Robbie Rosen! What was the songwriting and recording process like for this song?
KF: “I started writing “Confused” on my own, but when Robbie came on board, he helped to describe my thoughts and feelings even further. I really like working with Robbie! We complement each other’s writing styles so it’s a true collaboration. I recorded it from the safety of my own home and am so grateful that I get to share this song with the world!”
CS: What advice would you give for anyone who can relate to “Confused?”
KF: “Exactly what the song’s lyrics say: ‘And I know, everything will fade in time, the light will come in through the blinds…’ Things will get better and we need to stay hopeful ☺”
CS: Is “Confused” a preview of what’s to come from you?
KF: “I feel like I am definitely in my zone with “Confused” and loving it. I also like to surprise my listeners so I will leave it at that.”
CS: Are there any styles of music that you want to explore?
KF: “I always wanted to try to rap! But there are ways and I mean ways to go so maybe in the very distant future :D”
CS: We’ve been living in some pretty weird times, have you picked up any new hobbies outside of music?
KF: “I have been working with a couple of new charities. I just finished a fundraiser for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Their Students of the Year campaign kept me busy for a few months and it was for such a great cause. I am also involved with Farm Sanctuary, Children’s Hospital Aid Club and my own tutoring non-profit, that I founded with my friends.”
CS: What are your goals for 2021?
KF: “I would like to release an EP! My goals include some collaborations so I am excited for new music and things to come. Also, I would love to travel somewhere this summer!”
CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, are there any secrets you can share with us about yourself that people may not know yet?
KF: “I am on my school’s debate team! I have been in various tournaments (online in 2020) and we are going to the state tournament in April! Fingers crossed!”
