Kasey Tyndall is teaching her daughter all she needs to know about life from an early age through her new single “Not As I’ve Done.”
Released earlier this month (September 20), the country tune is a calming, heartfelt track that highlights the cautionary lessons that Tyndall has experienced in the past, including everything from dancing with a broken heart to making rash decisions with love, tattoos and piercings.
“It’s a song that I wrote for my daughter, and it’s a song that I feel like has a bunch of advice that most moms would give to their kids as well,” Tyndall says of the song’s early beginnings.
“When I went into write it with Adam Wood and Justin Richards, I just had in my phone, ‘do as I say, not as I’ve done.’ And when we were just kind of talking and catching up,Adam got quiet and just randomly said, ‘the shell don’t fall far from the gun, so do as I say, not as I’ve done.’ And I just about fell off the couch that I was sitting on because that was exactly what I wanted to say. We kind of built off of that and that’s how ‘Not As I’ve Done’ was born,” she continues.
“Not As I’ve Done” is the first single off her forthcoming self-titled label debut album that’s set to drop via MNRK Music in 2025, and the project is something that she tells Celeb Secrets is “super authentic” and “something that could pertain to [my] life right now.” Kasey Tyndall will highlight who she is today, with each song opening the door to a different undeniably authentic piece that makes her whole, while also looking back on the growth, perseverance, and change that she’s overcome.
“I’m my favorite version of myself right now, and I definitely feel like it’s showing in my songs,” Kasey reveals with a smile.
Continuing to showcase who she both on and off the stage in every aspect of her music, Tyndall enlisted in a very special guest star for the “Not As I’ve Done” visualizer. Sitting on the living room floor next to a doll house, the coming of age clip spotlights the country songstress with her 16-month-old daughter Sterling as they share sweet moments while Kasey sings the heartfelt yet meaningful lyrics.
Reflecting on her time shooting with her daughter, Kasey tells us that it was her husband who was the real star of the day, as he was the one to help Sterling make it though not only the video shoot, but also the stunning single cover.
“It took a little while for us to get her to sit still for the camera shots. I have to give it to my husband, though… he was just the absolute husband, dad of the year that day. He had gotten off of a shift and came to the video shoot to help,” she recalls.
“Where her head is like looking over to the side [in the cover art], my husband is over there shaking a plant. He got her to focus and look in one direction and not just all over the place. There was a lot going on that day, but she did awesome, she continues.
The rising star is currently showcasing her powerhouse vocals and skilled guitar playing on the road, opening for Ian Munsick and Ella Langley in cities across the country through November.
Sharing her excitement to be performing with artists she looks up to, Tyndall says that she can’t wait to visit Helotes, TX on November 8th when opening for Langley for this specific reason.
“Anytime I go out West it’s just beautiful and it’s not somewhere that we just get to go to all the time,” she says. “While I’m excited to go out on the road [with Ian], I cannot wait to go back to Helotes, Texas with [Ella]. We just played it with Ashley [McBryde] and wow, I love that place. So when I saw that was on the calendar, I was so happy. I’m so excited to get back.”
