Kiana Corley is getting ready to unveil the music video for her debut single “Lukewarm,” and Celeb Secrets has your first look at the new visual!
The Pennsylvania native, who released the song back in January, tells Celeb Secrets that “Lukewarm” is “about a love that hasn’t grown cold, but isn’t on fire anymore either.”
“I really wanted to write a song that talked about this topic because I honestly haven’t heard many that do! Most songs either talk about intense love or intense heartbreak, and I wanted to touch on the topic of what love looks like when it’s in the middle of those two things,” Corley exclusively shares. “The idea behind the symbolism of this song came, quite literally, from a lukewarm cup of coffee I was drinking one day.”
Kicking the video off by literally pouring a (lukewarm) cup of coffee, Kiana says that one of her favorite memories from the shoot was being with her friends the entire time. “We had to reshoot several scenes when the context was anger or frustration because in real life we are good friends and never have been angry with one another so we would start giggling. I am glad the scenes were authentic and that we pulled it off,” she shares.
Kiana Corley was raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where soul and pop were not on the top of everyone’s playlist. She is truly an original artist who treats her lyrics, composition and vocal delivery with the same respect as an artist taking their brush strokes to a canvas.
Kiana’s music is soulful with a youthful overlay of pop but also intertwined with her love of folk music and alt-rock. This makes perfect sense as her influences Corinne Bailey Rae, Tori Kelly and Stevie Wonder were never put in a genre exclusive category.
At the age of 12, she decided to take voice lessons, guitar lessons as well as bass lessons. She believes that being a multi-instrumentalist lends itself to the diversity her songs deliver.
In her most recent album, the songs follow a storyline of a young romance in which started on shaky grounds with two people pretending it was solid. This album takes you on a journey through many different musical styles – from upbeat ukulele- infused pop to funk. Kiana hopes this album will help with the healing process of anyone who had to go through a hard breakup. She is extremely motivated by helping and inspiring others, through her authentically original music. Kiana will be releasing her new music this winter which launches with a single release on her upcoming EP. Kiana signed a distribution deal with Heart Songs Records November 2020.
“Lukewarm” is the first taste of what’s to come from Corley, as the budding artist confirms that an EP is coming in the near future. “I cannot wait to share the entire body of work,” she says.
