Leah Kate Shares How Debut Project “Super Over” Both Heals and Empowers Her (Exclusive)

Leah Kate is ushering a new era filled with empowerment, knowing your worth and living your best life.

After going viral last year with “10 Things I Hate About You,” the alt-pop princess has been hard at work in the recording studio encapsulating how she really feels about the ups and downs of a relationship with her debut album SUPER OVERwhich is out now on all music streaming platforms.

“When I came up with the title [Super Over], I just clearly couldn’t get over someone,” Kate laughs while on a Zoom call with Celeb Secrets. “I needed to write this anthem for myself so it could be my ‘I need to get over you anthem.”

“A lot of the songs started from a sad, more lonely place, but are meant to like empower you in various ways, which is what I love to get out of music. It’s either healing me, making me feel better about something, pumping me up for something or empowering me to be the best version of myself to make me feel strong and powerful. And that’s what I hope everyone gets out of it,” she continues.

Mentioning that she is inspired by artists like Robyn, Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen and old-school Katy Perry and Lady GagaSUPER OVER puts the LA-based singer’s brutally honest “idgaf” cool-girl persona on full display while blending all of her favorite things — 90s pop, the pop-punk guitar sounds from the 2000s and sassy lyrics that she hopes connect with her listeners.

“I love when new people find my music and love it,” Leah says. “I hope everyone can connect with it and I hope it helps my listeners in whichever way they may need it to.”

Fans can hear Leah perform these songs — along with other hits like with “F*ck Up the Friendship” “F U Anthem” “Alive and Unwell” and “10 Things I Hate About You” — on her first-ever headlining tour, which kicked off in Indianapolis last week (Sept. 11). The star-in-the-making is 22 hitting major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, Oakland and Seattle before wrapping up on October 19 in Portland.

“I’ve never headlined before, so this is a big deal for me and I’m really excited,” she says with a smile. “You hear a lot of storytelling about the songs and you really get to know me.”

“I’m obviously putting on a show and I put so much time into like learning my choreography and learning the songs and writing the songs, but I feel like we’re all just like hanging out and it’s super fun and intimate. It’s super high energy and you’re gonna be having a good time. It’s fun.”
