MTV has found their host for the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards and it’s none other than Leslie Jones!
As this year’s official host of the main show, Leslie will take the stage to celebrate the biggest and best moments in movies and television over the past year. She joins the ranks of iconic show hosts, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart and Adam DeVine.
Known for her unmatched comedic style, Leslie has entertained audiences for years with roles on SNL, Ghostbusters and Time Machine, and is currently nominated for her first MTV Movie & TV Award for “Best Comedic Performance” for her role in Coming 2 America.
Just last week, MTV revealed the nominees and the list features some of our favorite scripted (and unscripted) films and shows. WandaVision (5), Emily In Paris (4), The Boys (4), Bridgerton (3), Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (3) and The Mandalorian (3) received the most chances to win a Golden Popcorn in the scripted categories, with RuPaul’s Drag Race (4), 90 Day Fianceě (2), Bling Empire (2), Legendary (2), Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta (2), Nailed It! (2), Ridiculousness (2). The Challenge (2) leading the MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED nominations.
Fans can vote for their favorites across 25 gender-neutral categories including “Best Kiss,” “Breakthrough Performance,” “Best Show,” and more by visiting vote.mtv.com starting April 19 through April 30, 2021.
The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards telecast will air live on Sunday, May 16 from the Palladium in Los Angeles, CA at 9PM ET/PT. Immediately following, MTV will air the inaugural Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED on Monday, May 17 at 9PM ET/PT; which is dubbed as “a first-of-its-kind celebration of all things reality television.”
