Lindsey Lohan is making her return to acting for a new Netflix holiday romantic comedy.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Lohan take the main role for a film, but now we are about to see the Parent Trap star take a new lead role in an upcoming Netflix romcom. The film, which has yet to be titled, is “about a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident.”

Netflix tweeted the announcement and it left fans having a deja-vu moment, as they felt as if this will be another remake of the 1987 film, Overboard. The film, which stars Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, is about a rich heiress, Joanna, who falls off a yacht and suffers amnesia. Grant, a carpenter who used to work for Joanna, takes the opportunity to make Joanna believe they are married and shows what regular life is like. The film was remade in 2008, with Anna Farris and Eugenio Derbez. One person commented, “Didn’t they already make Overboard?” with the movie poster of the 1987 “Overboard.” And someone else responded, “They did,” with the 2008 “Overboard” poster.
Lohan, who is mostly known for her childhood acting in films like The Parent Trap, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Herbie Fully Loaded, and the iconic chick flick Mean Girls, hasn’t made too many strides in acting in the past few years. With multiple run ins with the law, she sporadically appeared in a few projects over the years. She appeared in an episode of 2 Broke Girls in 2014, she had supporting role in the thriller, Among the Shadows in 2019, and had her reality TV moment with Lindsey Lohan’s Beach Club.
There has been no announcement when the Netflix film will be released, but it probably will hit the streaming service somewhere in 2022.
