With a little liquid courage over the weekend, Lizzo let Chris Evans know exactly how she feels. And to be honest, we all want to be her now.
On April 17, Lizzo posted to her TikTok with a warning, “Don’t drink and DM, kids…. for legal porpoises this is a joke.”
The video, which now has over a million likes, shows her sliding into Evans’ direct messages on Instagram where she uses three emojis: a puff of air, a female athlete and a basketball. Many fans have translated this as Lizzo saying she’s trying to shoot her shot with him.
And one can see in the video that the pair didn’t follow each other at the time. However, on Sunday that changed.
Lizzo duetted her original video with an update showing that the Avengers star had followed her and messaged back.
His response was, “No shame in a drunk DM…god knows I’ve done worse on this app.”

This is probably in reference to Evans’ now infamous Instagram story back in September where he was showing a screen record of his camera roll and somehow missed that he had a picture of his penis saved within the images. Once he posted that story, his then-7.5 million followers all were able to see what’s on the front side of “America’s ass.”
While Lizzo obviously freaked out over him messaging her back, this is not the first celebrity that TikTok is obsessed with that Lizzo has befriended. Her friendship with Harry Styles is another relationship that easily makes us jealous.
The pair have connected at various award shows and have both covered each other’s songs at the BBC Radio 1 lounge. In January of 2020, Styles joined Lizzo onstage at The Fillmore Miami Beach where they performed her hit “Juice” together during Super Bowl LIV.
These boys are making her – and all of us – go crazy, but we would not have it any other way.
