Aside from being identical twin sisters, the Merrell Twins are content creators, actresses and musicians who have been grazing our screens for over a decade.
On top of starring in movies and television shows like Jane the Virgin, Faking It, The Standoff, Like A Boss, Switched, Twin My Heart and more, the Merrell Twins have amassed over 6 million subscribers on their combined YouTube channel, with videos that “showcase their range in both comedy and music, such as original comedy sketches, original scripted series, original songs and music videos, popular song parodies/covers, original funny songs and challenges.”
Winning numerous Shorty Awards and Streamy Awards throughout their time in the social media space, as well as being nominated for numerous Teen Choice Awards and Kids’ Choice Awards, it is clear that their content is truly a fan favorite!
Last month, Veronica and Vanessa Merrell celebrated their 10th year at VidCon, and Celeb Secrets got to chat with them all about it. We reminisced on some of their fondest memories AND even got some behind-the-scenes secrets regarding the future of the Merrell Twins.
With their very first YouTube video being 13 years ago, fans of the Merrell Twins have truly watched Veronica and Vanessa grow up, all while evolving alongside them as the years have gone by.
“People say like, ‘I grew up with you guys,’ and in a weird way, it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s so crazy,’ because it makes me feel old when people say that, but it’s also really cool to realize like old they were when they first started watching and how they old they are now,” Vanessa shared.
Veronica added to this statement, bringing in some concrete evidence: “Our analytics used to show that the most viewers were 13 to 18, and now it’s 18 to 25, so that’s definitely proof right there that everyone’s just kind of growing with us and along for the ride.”
As they have matured, Veronica also confirmed that her and her sister have begun a brand new era as content creators, ultimately revealing to us, “We’ve had definitely had a lot of eras on our channel, [but] I would say we’re moving into a lifestyle era.”
“We both just got married. We both have our own places where we live. We’re adulting. We’re living on our own with our husbands, so I think that’s like where we’re at right now,” she continued with a grin.
Vanessa chimed in, “It’s kind of like a transition phase at the moment, because we’re trying to figure out life as married women, but also filming together and keeping up our Merrell Twins channel and it’s just been a fun, crazy process.”

With a new era comes even more goals and plans for the future, Celeb Secrets got ALL of the inside scoop.
As a whole, Veronica explained that her and her sister are “trying to think bigger outside of YouTube.”
“Bigger, but also giving back,” Vanessa added. “I think something with giving back has been a passion of ours for our whole lives, even before YouTube, and we want to accomplish something awesome and big and fun, so we’re working on an [accessory] brand right now.”
“We’re trying, so hopefully we get there,” she teased with a smirk.
Aside from the accessory brand they currently have in the works, the social media sensations “have been renovating [their] garage into a new studio, so [their] videos are going to look so different so soon.”
“We haven’t really like given much details. We’ve just told people we’re renovating the garage, but it’s going to be super colorful and it’s going to be different sets. It’s going to be almost like a live show set type of thing, so that’s something that’s almost done, hopefully,” Vanessa revealed to us.
She concluded, “We’ve been kind of keeping it on the low because we want it to be like a really fun, like new era Merrell Twins, so it’s coming” — We seriously can’t wait to see it for ourselves!
