Sheryl Sheinafia Channels Real Life Experiences in New Song, “Earn It” (Exclusive)

Sherly Sheinafia has turned heads and made waves with the release of her new song “Earn It.”

Tapping into one of life’s most treasured gifts, Sheinafia pours her heart into a track about second chances and what one must do to not only make it right but earn the chance to do so.

In an exclusive interview with Celeb Secrets, Sheinafia dished that the inspiration for “Earn It” came straight from her own life experiences as she navigates the balance between love and career.

“This is a part of a trilogy that I’m releasing with Empire and this song is basically a firsthand experience,” Sheinafia said. “I was going through a lot. I was in a relationship for four years with someone who means dearly to me and it was really tricky because it just got pretty toxic to a point where there was a lot of trust issues. And a lot of the problems arised actually during my production stage because I was also, in running a long-distance relationship, of course, I was based in LA for the time and my partner at the time was here in Indonesia. So [with] the time difference, there was a lot of miscommunication and I kept promising him that I was going to be present throughout the whole production and I would try to be in touch with him, but it was just hard, you know, cause you’re going like in and out of the studio and there’s not enough reception sometimes.”

Taking a learning point from a past love, she has now used that lesson as a source of inspiration.

The international star has not only gifted listeners with this song from a sonic standpoint, but a visual one as well with the release of “Earn It’s” music video. The arresting visuals of the video take viewers through an intimate conversation between two lovers in a Syfy-esque setting.

Sheinafia explained that the magic behind the music video is partially credited to the ongoing story it paints for fans from one project to the next.

“The production house is amazing,” she shared. “The ones I worked with they’re called Mirror Films. They’re based here in Indonesia and well basically we did the whole music video with two other videos cause it’s a trilogy within two days. So that was the second video that we did and the storyline is patched up from one video to the next, obviously. So this is actually a continuum to the first music video.”

“Earn It” is the second installment of Sheinafia’s three-part song release with EMPIRE, the first being “Want Ur Love.” Next Friday (March 18), the singer will drop the third and final track from her trilogy titled “Delicate,” a song that she describes as “the rainbow after the storm.”

“Dedicate’ is the aftermath of getting back into a groove— the rainbow after the storm,” Sheinafia says in a statement. “It marks the edge of a new frontier— a newfound togetherness with my partner. From dwelling with our own individual inner demons, it’s now us against the world.”

Celeb Secrets sat down with Sheryl Sheinafia (virtually) to learn more about her transcendent and trailblazing career, the real meaning behind “Earn It,” and her favorite memories from filming the music video.
