Mark Robert Cash is Showing His Love for the Golden State with New Single “Craving California” (Exclusive)

Mark Robert Cash is blending his love for both pop and country — along with the golden coasts of sunny California —  with his new single “Craving California,” and we can’t get enough of it.

“It’s incredible!” Mark tells Celeb Secrets Country about the song’s release in an exclusive interview. “We started this journey a few years ago. We had an entire plan. Then, the world shut down. I had to move home during the pandemic. I ended up recording CC with a few guys in my small town. It was good. When I finally got back to Nashville, I ended up playing a ton of shows. The sound of the song completely changed. So, we re-recorded it. I’m so happy with the response so far.”

As a singer, songwriter, and actor Cash is currently based in Nashville, TN, and using the creative environment to flourish within his career. As an actor, Mark has had the opportunity to be featured in three seasons of ABC’s Nashville, and Still The King starring Billy Ray Cyrus

As he prepares for the release of his debut EP, “Craving California” is the first musical offering from the project. Aside from the project, Mark was a part of the official choir for Will Hoge‘s historic musical release “Can I Be Country Too?” in partnership with Black Opry & Shows Off Nashville. In the past year, Mark has performed at Nashville Pride, Country Pride, Pride 615, and several others.

Celeb Secrets Country: For people that are unfamiliar with you and your music, who is Mark Robert Cash?

Mark Robert Cash: “I guess that depends on who you ask. I’m just a guy who loves people, laughing, and music.”

CSC: Can you tell us more about your musical beginnings and how you landed where you are today in your journey?

MRC: “I’m a church boy. I grew up singing in church. That’s where i discovered I could sing. I sang ‘Amazing Grace’ when I was 8. After the congregation’s response, I knew I wanted to do this all my life. I got to where I am now because of hard work. And, a lot of failure.”

CSC: If you could go more in depth on your sound for our readers, how would you describe it?

MRC: “It’s definitely a mixture of soul/pop/gospel. And, country mix all up in there. I grew of listening to all kinds of music.”

CSC: Your new single “Craving California” is officially here! How does it feel knowing that the song you’ve worked so hard on is finally out for people to hear?

MRC: “It’s incredible! We started this journey a few years ago. We had an entire plan. Then, the world shut down. I had to move home during the pandemic. I ended up recording CC with a few guys in my small town. It was good. When I finally got back to Nashville, I ended up playing a ton of shows. The sound of the song completely changed. So, we re-recorded it. I’m so happy with the response so far. ”

CSC: For those who haven’t heard the song yet, can you tell us more about its concept, sound and its inspiration?

MRC: “I’ll let the audience determine how they interpret it! But, I’ll say this. CC is what happens if Country and Pop had a baby.”

CSC: Do you have any favorite memories from working on the track that you can share with us?

MRC: “I went in to the studio with a set in stone way I wanted to record. My producer completely took my vision and doubled it. There were moments I would just jump up and down because I was so happy with the process. I had some really bad experiences in the past. I’m so grateful I have such an amazing team with me now.”

CSC: We know that “Craving California” is the first taste of what’s to come from your debut EP. Can you tell us more about your upcoming EP and the story you’re trying to tell with it?

MRC: “We actually haven’t decided on an official EP yet. I wrote this EP about heart break, healing, and moving on. We’ve all been let down. We’ve all been hurt. I think the message of these songs are relatable for everyone.”

CSC: When do you plan on releasing your EP?

MRC: “I want to say by summer. But, I keep writing. Who knows? Y’all might get to new projects.”

CSC: How does this EP different from other music you’ve released in the past?

MRC: “Completely different! I’m a former worship leader. All of my old songs were Contemporary Christian. This EP will be nothing like that. At least not yet.”

CSC: What’s the overall message that you want people to take from listening to your music?

MRC: “No matter what happens in life. You can rise above it. You are better than your hurt. And, you’re gonna make it! Music should empower you! Music is medicine.”

CSC: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any secrets (fun facts) about yourself or your creative process when you’re making music that we wouldn’t know?

MRC: “Fun Fact: I’m also an actor. I’ve been featured on a few episodes of ABCs ‘NASHVILLE’. I’ve also done music videos for Ashley McBryde, Katy Nicole, Big Daddy Weave, etc.

Creative Process: I wrote most of my songs in the shower. Or, on the toilet. I’ll just keep it real. HA!”
