If you’ve been anywhere near Kelsea Ballerini‘s LIVE ON TOUR this year, chances are you’ve already fallen head over sparkly heels for MaRynn Taylor. The Black River rising star is crisscrossing the country as part of the ultimate girls’ night out, and trust us when we say, this girl is having her moment.
“It’s been great! Getting to tour with Kelsea has just been like a dream come true of like, an all-girl lineup,” MaRynn gushed to Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder in an exclusive interview. “So it’s girl power every single night. And just getting to perform in arenas is like crazy.”
And with the release of her highly anticipated fan-favorite single, “same girl same,” MaRynn is proving why she’s the artist to watch in 2025. The moody breakup anthem, packed with electric guitar and sass, dropped on February 21 — just hours after Kelsea’s 36-date tour wrapped in Charlotte, North Carolina.
But trust us, this isn’t just another breakup song. It’s a moment.
So, what’s the story behind “same girl same?” Oh, just a casual ex who brought his new girlfriend to MaRynn’s show. Yep, you read that right.
“There’s no way she knew whose show she was at,” MaRynn laughed. “If I had a boyfriend and he was like, ‘Hey, do you want to go to my ex’s show?’ I’d be like, hell no! So I was just feeling for her in that moment. I could relate to her. So same girl, same.”
The crowd has been eating it up on tour — and honestly, same girl, same. “Every time I tell the story on stage, people are like ‘YES!’ I’m obsessed with it,” she told us. And if you’re wondering whether Mr. Ex is aware this bop is about him? Let’s just say… he definitely knows. “Especially because I’m telling that story every single night on stage,” MaRynn teased. “And his parents came to a show too. So they heard it. It’s gonna get back to him for sure.”
Beyond releasing new music, MaRynn has been soaking up every moment of performing in some of the country’s most iconic venues — including a sold-out night at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
“When I first moved to Nashville, every artist is like, ‘Wow, a Bridgestone show… that’s gotta be crazy.’ And I got to see what that view looks like from that point of view on stage,” MaRynn shared. “It was such a crazy night. All my best friends were there, my whole label, my agents… It was hectic, but so special.”
And of course, having Kelsea Ballerini as a tour big sister doesn’t hurt. “She really is such a girl’s girl,” MaRynn said, recalling how Kelsea linked arms with her on the very first night of tour. “She was like, ‘I’m going to walk with you.’ She literally walked with me all the way to stage and gave me a hug. She’s really been like the big sister I never had.”
It wouldn’t be the LIVE ON TOUR era without a killer wardrobe, and MaRynn is showing UP thanks to stylist Tiffany Gifford (who also works with Miranda Lambert). Think bedazzled jeans, glittery glam, and a vibe that has fans literally twinning with her at shows.
“We’ve bedazzled a lot of jeans,” MaRynn laughed. “I love that people are wanting to get twin with me. It’s been so fun.”
And if you happened to catch the Newark stop like Celeb Secrets did — or any show for that matter — you already know that MaRynn helped set the tone for a night of pure, unfiltered girl power energy. Between friendship bracelets, sparkly freckles (yes, it’s a thing), and outfits that deserve their own Pinterest boards, the vibes were immaculate.
With part two of the tour heading west and a Grand Ole Opry appearance on deck, MaRynn’s just getting started. “I’m excited for 2025. It’s already starting off with a big old yay,” she shared. “There’s definitely talk of more music, more shows… I feel like every year there’s always something that’s a surprise. I’m on the lookout of like, okay, what’s going to happen next?”
One thing’s for sure: we’ll be streaming “same girl same” on repeat and adding extra glitter to our makeup routine. Because as MaRynn reminds us, “It’s a safe place to just be yourself and go all out with the sparkles.”
