After spending a little too much time watching videos from content creators like Jenna Marbles and O2L, Maryland native Tara Yummy put a camera in her hand and started documenting her everyday life for people like herself to watch on YouTube.
“I got on the Internet way too early and I liked watching YouTubers online,” Tara tells Celeb Secrets at our exclusive shoot in Los Angeles. “I always wanted to do what they do and honestly, it’s been a dream.”
And after putting in the work by posting challenges, style swaps and vlogs every Monday, the 22-year-old now lives in Los Angeles with a budding career on social media that shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
“I feel like when you go on my channel, the first thing you really see are my style swaps,” Tara says about her YouTube channel. “I style swap with a lot of my friends that have a lot of different styles than I do, or I give my friends a makeover and I just make it funny. I make it seem natural.”
With over 1.4M followers on TikTok, 600K followers on Instagram and 400K subscribers on YouTube, Tara has taken her talents to new levels by putting together a stand-up variety show, introducing her fans to a different style of entertainment from their favorite creator.
Always wanting to put together a live show, the 22-year-old booked her first at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank in May and received an overwhelmingly positive response with a sold-out crowd and the demand for more in the future.
“I’ve always wanted to do some sort of standup comedy, and [this show] was just putting my foot in the door. It was more like a variety show, But I’ve always wanted to do it,” Tara says. “So I thought I would try it and when I did, it sold out. I’m so thankful for the people who came bought tickets because it was like a dream come true.”
For 2023, Tara plans to continue posting original content on platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, however, she will fulfill her lifelong dream of putting on more shows as she will be hitting the road for her first-ever Selling Myself Short Tour for the first few weeks of the year. Kicking off on January 28th in Dallas, Texas, the 22-year-old is set to make her way to cities like Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., Houston, and Brooklyn, her nine-city run will end in Los Angeles on March 12.
