Britney Spears is set for a court appearance in June as she attempts to break free from her conservatee status.
The pop singer has been fighting for more freedom and she’s already advocated for her rights on several occasions. However, June 23 will mark a significant milestone (either good or bad) as Britney will have a chance to speak up in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Spears’ lawyer Samuel Ingham III requested this upcoming opportunity for Britney and he agrees with Judge Brenda Penny’s suggested timeline for court proceedings, according to a report in the Penticton Herald.
For those who aren’t so keen on watching Framing Britney Spears, Britney’s fortune valued at roughly $59-million hasn’t been at her disposal in over a decade.
Instead, her father Jamie Spears was put in charge of the enormous empire back in 2008 when he gained conservatorship over his daughter. Ultimately, this gave him the final word in many of Britney’s personal and financial pursuits and it all ignited when Britney was in need of temporary psychiatric care. Simply put, this move left Britney with very little agency in her own life.
Just yesterday (April 27), Britney fans took to the streets right outside a Los Angeles courthouse and they didn’t go empty-handed. Local #FreeBritney activists brought their most clever posters, featuring a galore of song references and bright pink imagery. One poster draws from Britney’s classic pop jam “Till The World Ends,” on a blush pink bristle board with fabulous shots of Britney in action. “We will keep fighting to free Britney till the world ends,” the poster reads.
Another fan and activist conflates the song “Overprotected” with Britney’s lack of authority when it comes to her own personal and business affairs. It seems as though the star was hinting at something far greater than anything we ever could’ve imagined throughout the years, but we clearly missed all the signs.

Meanwhile on Instagram, Britney is staying calm for her fans.
In her most recent post, she opens up about what it’s like to ignore stigmas that encourage women in Hollywood to maintain petite physiques. She reminisces how following such strict ideals just didn’t feel natural: “I might look better but I felt too vulnerable in my skin being this small !!!! I didn’t like it so I started boxing so now I feel stronger too” [cue her hit single “Stronger”].
While major celebrities may be constantly scrutinized by the media for every extra bit of body fat, Britney reveals her new awakening towards body image has been empowering. “We all have our own ways to work on our bodies and I respect that cause we all should … I just hope I don’t see an @innout burger any time soon,” she jokes with nearly 30-million followers.
