Biles is the girl to beat! The Olympic champion has been competing since 2013 and has never lost an all-around competition, which consists of four bar events, beam, vault, and floor. This year, she is bringing a special skill to the competition: a Yurchenko double pike vault, which has historically only been performed by men. She made history in May of this year, as she was the first woman to successfully land the move in competition. It consists of a round off onto the spring board, a backhand spring onto the vault, and a piked double backflip landing.
FUN FACT: Her talents don’t just stop at gymnastics! In 2017, Biles joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars. She was paired with pro Sasha Farber and made it to the semifinals. Whether dancing or back flipping, we are excited to see her bring the heat at this years games.
