Megan Thee Stallion Cancels Her Houston Concert “Out of Respect” for Astroworld Victims

Megan Thee Stallion has announced that her upcoming concert in her hometown of Houston, TX has been canceled.

The rapper was set to take the stage tomorrow (December 3), but ultimately decided to cancel the show “out of respect” for the victims of Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival that took place earlier last month, where ten people died and multiple were injured.

The Grammy Award-winning artist released a statement in Houston Chronicle explaining the show cancelation.

“Out of respect for the lives lost in Houston earlier this month, I have decided to cancel my show at 713 Music Hall on Dec. 3,” Megan said. “Houston is still healing, and it’s important that our community be given the appropriate time to grieve. My heart goes out to all the families that are suffering during this difficult time.”

Stallion’s show was announced November 4 as a celebration for her graduation from Texas Southern University, which is set for December 11.

As for the Astroworld tragedy, Travis Scott has had hundreds of lawsuits filed against him and the number continues to rise daily. Just this week, Scott’s offers to pay for victims’ funerals were declined by multiple families, including nine-year-old Ezra Blount’s.

Stallion has yet to say if the show will be rescheduled, but fans can look out for her later this month when she takes the stage during the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour presented by CapitalOne, which kicked off earlier this week in Dallas. The “Thot S***” rapper will perform on three dates this year, beginning on Tuesday, December 14th in Washington, DC, Thursday, December 16th in Atlanta, GA and Sunday, December 19th in Miami, FL.
