Mitchell Tenpenny Hints At Whether or Not He’ll Record a Song with Wife Meghan Patrick (Exclusive)

With his newest single, “We Got History,” climbing the charts as of late, Mitchell Tenpenny is sure to be deemed a country legend in no time.

The song stems from his most recent album, This Is The Heavy, which hit all music streaming platforms in September of 2022. The 20-track project features other smash hits like “Truth About You,” “Bucket List” and more, making it a must-listen for all country music fans.

“[‘We Got History’]  just broke top 40 like a couple weeks ago. It’s working its way up, and we’re just gonna keep pushing baby. We’re gonna try to ring that bell again,” the talented singer-songwriter shared with Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder backstage at the 2023 iHeartCountry Festival in Austin, Texas.

And while “We Got History” is truly having ✨a moment✨ on country radio, Tenpenny revealed to us that his “favorite part about this entire industry is getting to write and record music,” going on to tease some new tunes that he has in the works.

“Getting to perform it is always amazing, but you can’t perform anything if you don’t have anything to perform, so that’s where it starts. That’s the heart of it, and I love getting in the studio and writing music, so we got a lot more coming,” he shared.

When asked what the overall sound will be like for his upcoming tracks, Tenpenny revealed, “we’re always playing with whatever the curve is, but this record I kind of went back to, ‘Hey, let’s do whatever we think sounds cool.'”

“We’ve been lucky enough to work with my friends that have all had success now, and that stuff can kind of water down the reason you got success in the first place, and so it’s kind of like shaking each other and going, ‘Hey man, let’s forget about everything. Let’s go back to when we first started and whatever makes us bounce, let’s kind of roll with that.’ It’s been a lot of fun to go back to the roots like that,” he concluded.

With new music slowly on the rise, fans have been wondering whether or not Tenpenny will drop a collaboration with his extremely talented wife, Meghan Patrick.

“When the time is right and we’re hanging out, we will for sure, because she’s too talented not to,” he revealed to Celeb Secrets. “Honestly the only reason why is because she’s probably just gonna out write me like crazy, and I’m gonna sit in the corner… People always ask that, and we will for sure.”

The country superstar continued to warm our hearts, proceeding to gush about his lovely wife ❤️

“She’s incredible and and inspiration to me,” he spilled. “She’s absolutely killing it right now. Her whole group, I mean her and Lainey Wilson, Kasey Tyndall… These girls are awesome, and I’ve sat there with them night in and night out for years watching them play and sing their songs.”

“I’m just so glad the world’s finally hearing them, and especially what Lainey’s doing. I mean, It’s just amazing. They got such a power group. I just get to sit back and watch it all blow up, so it’s been awesome,” he continued with a smile.

With new music aside, Mitchell Tenpenny experienced something truly surreal just a few weeks prior to his performances at iHeartCountry Festival. The rising country artist revealed to us that he was asked to open for Luke Combs at Nissan Stadium, which was “a dream come true” for the Tennessee native.

“I’m a huge Titans fan. Born and raised in Nashville. That was kind of a dream come true for us, so it was pretty neat,” Tenpenny gushed, then he proceeded to share what it is like working with the back-to-back CMA Entertainer of the Year.

“Combs is such a great guy. We’ve been able to take that call a few times. We did one in Seattle for him and then the next day we were in Jacksonville and like last minute, I remember getting that call from my manager, ‘Hey, can we do this? Can we make it happen?’ and it’s like, ‘I don’t know, but we’re going to figure it out,'” he shared.

“He’s a great guy all around. He takes care of the people that go with him. I’m always trying to learn when I get the tour with other people and their crews, and the ones that last and do well, you know, the common denominator is good people, and that’s what Luke Combs is by far,” he concluded passionately.

Other than opening for Luke Combs back in April, the country superstar has TONS of other shows scheduled for the remainder of 2023.

“We got Jason Aldean coming up the whole year, starting in June all the way through the end of October. I couldn’t be more excited about that,” he shared with Celeb Secrets.

Tenpenny elaborated on this statement, going on to share that “Corey Kent is coming out too. Corey, us and Jason — I think that’s a recipe for a good time for sure.”
