MOD SUN and Avril Lavigne are back for an acoustic version of their hit song “Flames” and it may just be better than the original!
On Friday (April 23), the musicians released the new track’s stunning visual that’s reminiscent of an MTV Unplugged session, as it shows both MOD and Lavigne in an intimate dimly lit wood room, setting the stage for Avril’s soft guitar strumming. Joined by two strings players and a glockenspiel player, the song (and its video) hits you right in the feels in the best way possible.
“I wanted to offer a bright side to the story and I felt like sonically I could paint that landscape through acoustic guitar and a string section,” says MOD. “I wanted to make something that felt like we were performing in your living room.”
“Flames is a very special song,” adds Avril Lavigne. “I love how the acoustic version turned out. It really brings another layer of emotion to the song.”
The acoustic version of “Flames” is the first single from MOD SUN’S upcoming Internet Killed The Rockstar Deluxe album, which is expected to drop next Friday, May 7th. Currently, the original recording of “Flames” feat. Avril Lavigne has over 30M streams across platforms and is in the Top 20 at Alternative Radio.
