Nathan Kress is stepping into the big chair as he’s directing an upcoming “important” episode of iCarly.
The 29-year-old actor, who reprised his role as Freddie Benson, took to Instagram earlier this week to express excitement for this new special experience.
“Yesterday, we wrapped season 1 of iCarly,” he wrote. “It was an incredibly special week, for a lot of reasons. If you had told me 9 years ago that I would see the words iCarly and ‘Director’ attached to my name, I would have laughed right in your face. But this past week, I collaborated with some of the most talented, professional, kind, creative and supportive cast and crew I could have ever asked for.”
The actor turned director continued, “While it wasn’t the finale episode (that’ll be the brilliant Mr. Phill Lewis’s doing), this episode is a really important story, with a lot of heart and nostalgia, critical new characters, and some character backstory that should give the OG iCarly fans some serious feels,” says Kress. “I’m honored to have the chance to bring this story to you guys, and I hope you love it when it comes out later this summer on @paramountplus!!!”

For anyone who hasn’t had the chance to check out the reboot, the 13-episode season picks up nearly 10 years after the original show ended, and finds Carly Shay, the original influencer, and her friends navigating work, love, and their family in their twenties.
Kress stars alongside original cast members Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) and Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), with newest additions Laci Mosley, and Jaidyn Triplett.
