Netflix has released the first photos of Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding, and Cosmo Jarvis on the set of their upcoming period film, Persuasion.
Based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, the film adaptation will take a modern approach to the story. Deadline reports that the plot centers on a witty woman named Anne Elliot (played by Johnson) who lives with her family as they face bankruptcy. When her ex-partner, Frederick Wentworth (played by Jarvis), surprisingly comes back into her life, she is met with the decision of letting go of the past or giving him a second chance. Golding plays Anne’s cousin, Mr. Elliot.
Carrie Cracknell, best known for her work in theatre, will be making her feature directorial debut. Ron Bass and Alice Victoria Winslow adapted the screenplay.
Johnson was recently spotted filming the movie on location. The actress can be seen in a series of photos sitting on a tree swing and sipping on a beverage.
