Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has been fined $25,000 for yelling obscenities at a fan during a game.
On Wednesday, March 16, during a game against the Dallas Mavericks at the Barclays Center, the Nets’ home arena, a fan sitting near the basket yelled to Durant, “You gotta take this game over!” The fan was essentially putting the blame on Durant for the Nets losing the game, as the incident occurred in the final seconds of the game in which the Nets lost 113-111.
In response to the fan, Durant yelled, “You gotta shut the f**k up and sit down.” At that point, the fan was roasted, and of course, video of the incident was taken and posted online, gaining much traction.

As a result of Durant’s foul language, the All-Star was fined $25,000 by the NBA for “directing obscene language toward a fan,” according to the league’s official statement.
“Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant has been fined $25,000 for directing obscene language toward a fan, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations,” the statement read. “The incident took place with 9.4 seconds remaining in the second quarter of the Nets’ 113-111 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on March 16 at Barclays Center.”
Notably, this is not the first time Durant has been fined for using foul language. Just three months ago in December, in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, a fan yelled at Durant to “stop crying”, to which Durant responded, “shut yo ass up motherf*****”. Durant was also fined $25,000 for that incident.

Regardless of Durant’s behavior, it’s undeniable that he is one of the Nets’ driving forces and one of the most prominent and skilled players in the league right now. And as such, he certainly possesses enough money to pay off the fine.
