Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney Opens Up About Season 2 and Thinking Her Character Would Be Killed Off

Our first thought was, “she better be joking!”

Cassie already seems to feel like the world is against her, especially after what went down during Season 2 of Sam Levinson’s HBO Max series, Euphoria

Sydney Sweeney brings Cassie Howard to life. She seems to be the innocent best friend that would never do anything to break her friendship, or so we thought. If you haven’t seen Season 2 by now, this is a warning you might stumble into some spoilers.

We all know by now Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) is the problem here, especially in this chaotic and unexpected season of the show, let’s do a little rerun. During the episode, “Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door,” Nate drives Cassie to a party after stumbling into her at a liquor store. They make their way, speeding, and drinking. Cassie then decides to unbuckle herself and takes her body out the window. This was the point where Sweeney thought it was going to be the end of her character, especially after reading the first scene.

“I thought that [series creator Sam Levinson] was killing me,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I thought that I was going to get killed.”

Although we now know that didn’t happen, she has a whole lot of chaos coming her way thanks to her hopelessly romantic phase with Nate. Fans will get to see whether the best friends make up or how far Maddy (Alexa Demie) will take it after her bestie hooked up with her ex, which is obviously off-limits…right?

“The hanging out the window, actually, was just me hanging out the window,” she proceeded to share. “It was just random and very in the moment. But when I read it, I thought that Cassie was getting killed off. And I was really bummed. But then it turned into this weirdly sensual, dangerous connection between these two characters. And it became what it became.”

You can binge..we mean, watch Euphoria on HBO Max.
