NFL Pro Bowl Star Alvin Kamara Arrested, Charged With Battery

Immediately after playing in the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl, New Orleans Saints Star Alvin Kamara was arrested and taken into custody.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested Kamara following the conclusion of the game. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and charged with ‘battery resulting in substantial bodily harm,’ according to Nevada law.

Police say that on Saturday (February 5) morning, the day before the game, Kamara physically assaulted someone in a nightclub during an altercation. On Sunday (February 6), as Kamara was playing in the Pro Bowl — where he went 4-for-6 for 23 yards — the victim identified Kamara as the suspect.

The report indicated that the incident took place around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning, inside a nightclub at the Cromwell Casino at Drais After Dark Club, on South Las Vegas Boulevard. He was identified by the suspect and traced via his I.D. and credit card transactions at the nightclub, and taken into custody following the game.

According to ESPN’s Mike Triplett, video evidence has surfaced showing Kamara and his associates punching the suspect eight times, and then he or his associates stomped “at least sixteen” times on the victim’s downed body. The victim was knocked unconscious and suffered multiple injuries including a right eye fracture.

But according to Kamara, the victim insulted his girlfriend while the pair were inside the elevator, and threatened him, saying “I’ll whoop your ass too.” Kamara told police that the fight had initially broken out between the victim and Kamara’s associates, but Kamara got involved after he thought the man was attempting to flee. However, according to the police report and video surveillance, the man was not trying to flee.

After posting bail, Kamara was released from custody on Sunday night. He is due to appear in court on March 8th, and if found guilty, he could be sentenced to up to five years in state prison, which would derail his professional football career.
