His new track, “noRoom” with singer/songwriter SAVS is set to release on February 12th. The pair wrote the song together during a “songwriting retreat” in the desert after they had both dealt with their own fair share of heartbreak.

“Our most recent relationships at the time ended in a practically identical fashion,” Hamilton says. “Our partners, no matter how much they claimed to have wanted to, didn’t have any room in the head for someone else.”

Hamilton is known for his roles as Henry Bowers in the It movies and Rellian in Captain Fantastic but now the actor is finally making his way into music, something he’s always had a special affinity for. He is set to release his debut EP later this year and we are so excited to listen!

Celeb Secrets talks to Hamilton about working with SAVS and their song “noRoom,” as well as what we can expect from him in the future. Read more of our conversation down below!

Celeb Secrets: You are best known for your acting roles like Henry Bowers in the “It” films and Rellian in “Captain Fantastic,” what made you want to pursue a music career?

Nicholas Hamilton: “I’ve been an actor for almost 10 years now, so my life’s revolved around entertaining and performing for a long time. I love acting but I’ve always had a special affinity for music. It was only a matter of time until I started writing my own, which came at the end of 2018 when I wrote my first few tunes with my guitarist, Ben Kuhl. I moved out to LA from Australia pretty soon after that, and I’ve spent the majority of my time ever since either auditioning, filming, or writing music. When COVID hit, those first two things went away for a little bit, and I was faced with purely writing songs, which eventually turned into recording and, now, releasing them.”

CS: How is the music path different from acting? Do they have their similarities?

NH: The film industry is super formulaic. There are tried and true methods that, with talent and a little bit of luck, will work in your favour. The music industry is the exact opposite. Its evolving so rapidly and new paths are being carved for artists every day. Tiktok is a huge example of this, it’s only been prominent for like a year, and it’s already shaping the billboard charts and streaming numbers super aggressively. That excites me. The idea that I can try and find success in this field, doing what I love doing, in ways that no one may have done before.”

CS: I read that your friendship with Savs was formed through Instagram. How did your connection start?

NH: “I’d been living in LA for about 6 months when I hit a songwriting wall. It happens every now and then, and I normally just wait them out until something good comes, but this time I decided to put out a call on my Instagram for possible collaborators to write with. Savs’ friend tweeted at me and told me to check her out, so I did, and I thought her voice and writing talent was phenomenal, so I reached out to her. We linked up for a jam session at my apartment and immediately had an incredible bond.”

CS: Your collaboration track “noRoom” is fantastic! What was the songwriting process for “noRoom” like for you two?

NH: “Thank you! So after that first session in 2019, we didn’t see each other for over a year, mainly based on business and our base locations. We eventually got an Airbnb for a week in Visalia, CA in July of 2020, just purely to write and be creative. One of the best ideas either of us have ever had. We sat down on the second day and started venting to each other about recent relationships and realised how similar each of ours were to each others, so we decided to write about that. noRoom was written and a demo had been recorded in less than an hour.”

CS: What was the inspiration for “noRoom”?

NH: Our most recent relationships at the time ended in a practically identical fashion. Our partners, no matter how much they claimed to have wanted to, didn’t have any room in the head for someone else. They had to go take their own me-time, for mental health reasons. Naturally Sav and I both wanted to let that happen, let them try to heal and be happy again, but we also didn’t want to say goodbye. So we were both put into this weird limbo, where you’re not taken but you don’t feel like you should be single, either. Kind of waiting for someone who may never come back to you.”

CS: Can we expect more music coming from you in the near future?

NH: “Yes! noRoom is out Feb 12, then my 3rd single just a few weeks later, then my debut EP! I struggle to live life without a very scheduled plan, so my music is pretty tied to certain dates, all the way through to May of this year.”

CS: Since we are Celeb Secrets, what is one secret you can share that your fans might not know about you?

NH: “I’m a pretty open book! My fans already seemed to know almost everything about me, even before I started spelling out my emotions and life experiences in songs. And I like that. I like not having to hold anything back, and having an honest and open relationship with my fans. It might grow old some day, but it’s yet to.”
