Nick Brodeur Teams Up with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation for New Single “Believe It’s Your Time” (Listen)

Nick Brodeur wants you to know that you’re not alone when dealing with obstacles that life may throw at you.

The singer/songwriter’s newest single “Believe It’s Your Time” just dropped on Friday (January 15), and it’s one of his most special ones yet. Teaming up with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, an organization that helps both people who battle and lost someone to addiction, Brodeur’s song serves as a reminder to all — including himself — that things will get better if you truly believe.

“This song was really important for me to write,” Brodeur says in a statement. “Jim Wahlberg asked me to create it in partnership with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. The organization aims to help people with addiction, as well as people who have lost their loved ones to the disease. The track is just meant as a reminder to whoever may need it; If you believe in yourself, and you work hard, you can overcome your depression, or addiction, or get through any hard time.”

Celeb Secrets sat down (virtually) with the budding singer/songwriter to hear more about the creative process behind “Believe It’s Your Time,” his involvement with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation and what’s to come from him in 2021. Make sure to listen to “Believe It’s Your Time” and read our full Q&A below — don’t forget to let us know what you think of the song by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.

Celeb Secrets: Thanks for chatting with us! Can you tell us about your new single “Believe It’s Your Time?” What inspired you most in creating the lyrics?

Nick Brodeur: “I connected with the Mark Wahlberg Foundation for this song. I wanted to send the message that you should believe in yourself, and if you do, anything is possible. I got to work with this amazing producer in Miami, Chip Williams, who I met through Jim Wahlberg, and the song just came together flawlessly.”

Celeb Secrets: You’ve written the single in partnership with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, working to help people with addiction, as well as people who have lost their loved ones to the disease. What does this foundation mean to you?

NB: “It means so much to me, more than you know. I make music because I love it and it helps me, but at the end of the day the goal of putting it out is to help others. I’m honored that this track will help me do that.”

CS: We really enjoy your music videos, especially “Poison Ivy”—can you tell us a little bit about what goes into making them? Have you started making one for “Believe It’s Your Time?”

NB: “‘Poison Ivy’ was shot by Yniq Barker from Sobe Films. We shot it in Laguna Beach, California and it was a lot of fun. I got to show off some of my vinyl collection, which I loved and felt like made the video more personal!

Yes, I do have a video for ‘Believe It’s Your Time!’ It’s going to release on the 15th, and i’m super stoked about it.”

CS: After playing the guitar and creating music for years, what motivates you to keep producing new singles?

NB: “I just love it. It’s all I want to do with my life. I know I can change the world. That’s my motivation.”

CS: Having already played at legendary venues such as Whisky a Go Go, what has been your favorite place to perform?

NB: “Definitely in Atlantic City with Godsmack. It was such a one of a kind experience to play with one of my all time favorite bands.”

CS: How has living in Los Angeles influenced your music career? Did you always know that you wanted to produce music?

NB: “LA has a really cool vibe, especially in the neighborhood I was in. I went to an Arts High School and all my friends were super cool and were super talented musicians. I think I always knew I wanted to make music, but being in a school surrounded by other people who wanted the same thing motivated me even more.”

CS: We know you have a passion for rock music and playing the guitar—what else do you enjoy doing in your free time?

NB: “I love watching sports!”

CS: You’ve supported legends such as Steven Adler and collaborated with artists like Urban Mystic in the past, what other projects are you looking forward to in 2021?

NB: “A collaboration with DMC from legendary Hip Hop group Run-DMC.”
