Olivia Rodrigo has been sharing more music from her sophomore album Guts and it’s definitely not a bad idea.
On Friday (August 11) the 20-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist released her new song “bad idea right?” along with its accompanying music video, which to no surprise, broke the Internet with catchy beats and relatable lyrics.
“bad idea right?” begins with an opening scene featuring Rodrigo’s real life besties, Tate McRae, Madison Hu, and Iris Apatow, all touching up their makeup in the bathroom at a party. Rodrigo receives a phone call from a “LOSER NOT WORTH MENTIONING” but doesn’t pick up, however, through her song lyrics, we know he’s sending her his new address with the undertone that she’ll come over.
Rodrigo then re-enters the party wearing a sparkly skirt, soft blue sweater, and a huge heart-shaped pendant necklace. Throughout the video, Rodrigo faces ALL the signs to stay at home and NOT go to her ex’s house including a hitchhiking incident that leaves her stranded in the rain, taking the public bus and being met with a red slurpee thrown in her face, all to show up at the “LOSER NOT WORTH MENTIONING” ‘s house JUST for the whole thing to blow up in her face…literally!

The “deja-vu” singer perfectly portrays the realistic and relatable teenager who knows they shouldn’t be doing something *even when all the signs are there NOT to* but still wants to go through with the bad idea anyway.
“bad idea right?” follows the release of “vampire,” which is also featured on her sophomore album Guts arriving on Friday, September 8. Upon the release of “vampire,” the song immediately went viral and landed No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Apart from THAT bad idea, we know Rodrigo’s fashion sense is something ALL of her “Livies” agree are GOOD IDEAS. On Sunday (August 13th), the former Disney Channel star attended the Chelsea FC opener at Stamford Bridge in London, where she was spotted wearing the Betsey Johnson Malibu Midi Calico Ditsy Print Dress, which you can snag for $60 on Nordstrom Rack here.
Betsey Johnson is a GO-TO brand in Rodrigo’s wardrobe, as she has been spotted wearing the beloved fashion designer’s pieces on many occasions.
