Celeb Secrets Predicts the 2017 People’s Choice Awards – Television Categories

It’s that time of the year again for one of our favorite awards shows to make its mark: the People’s Choice Awards (PCA). Not only our the PCA’s fun to watch, but we adore the show because fan’s get to have a say by voting for their favorites in music, movies, and television.

With the big night quickly approaching, Celeb Secrets is giving you our exclusive look at our predictions for who in television will make it onto the winner’s list that evening. Hosted by Joel McHale, the hilarious comedian will not fail to deliver laughs and entertainment. Since many of the voting categories are closing early, make sure to get your choices in before the big day!

The 2017 People’s Choice Awards will air January 18 @ 9PM ET/PT on CBS.

TELEVISION

FAVORITE TV SHOW: “The Big Bang Theory”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Outlander”, “Stranger Things”, “The Walking Dead”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Since fans have a say in this awards show, we believe that “Stranger Things” will win this one. To the surprise of many, this show quickly became a Netflix smash and is adored by loyal, outspoken fans on social media. It has the best chance at winning because its fresh compared to its veteran category mates.

FAVORITE NETWORK TV COMEDY: “The Big Bang Theory”, “Black-ish”, “Jane the Virgin”, “Modern Family”, “New Girl”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: “The Big Bang Theory” has been a PCA favorite for several years at this point. Although all of the shows are good, this one’s a no brainer. “The Big Bang Theory” has a larger following, so this automatically gives it a better advantage.

FAVORITE COMEDIC TV ACTOR: Andy Samberg, Anthony Anderson, Jim Parsons, Matthew Perry, Tim Allen

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Andy Samberg is perfect on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. There is no way he is losing this race!

FAVORITE COMEDIC TV ACTRESS: Anna Faris, Gina Rodriguez, Kaley Cuoco,  Sofia Vergara, Zooey Deschanel

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Although we love all of these strong female comedy goddesses, we have to side with Zooey Deschanel. Deschanel has proven time and time again how lovable, quirky, and relatable she can be on “New Girl” as Jessica Day. We at Celeb Secrets adore her for it!

FAVORITE NETWORK TV DRAMA: “Chicago Fire”, “Empire”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “How to Get Away with Murder”, “Quantico”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Although “Grey’s Anatomy” has a large chance of pulling a win because of it’s extensive cult following, we believe “How to Get Away with Murder” may sneak up and claim this win. Since Viola Davis is the star of HTGAWM, that should automatically guarantee the show a win, right?

FAVORITE DRAMATIC TV ACTOR: Jesse Williams, Justin Chambers, Scott Foley, Taylor Kinney, Terrence Howard

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Honestly, this could potentially go either way. However, we’re going to give it to Jesse Williams because fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” will make this win all the more possible.

FAVORITE DRAMATIC TV ACTRESS: Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra, Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Honestly, this category has us at Celeb Secrets in a pickle because it’s such a tough race. Although we believe it will be a battle to the death between Ellen Pompeo and Viola Davis, Davis will mostly likely win the fight.

FAVORITE CABLE TV COMEDY: “Atlanta”, “Baby Daddy”, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “Real Husbands of Hollywood”, “Younger”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Celeb Secrets is going to put our heart out on the line and root for “Atlanta”! Since the unique new comedy show has proven to be a hit with audiences and critics alike, we believe it has a strong shot at winning within this category.

FAVORITE CABLE TV DRAMA: “The Americans”,  “Bates Motel”, “Mr. Robot”, “Pretty Little Liars”, “Queen Sugar”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Although we would love to see “Bates Motel” score in this category, we feel the award will probably go to “Pretty Little Liars”. It’s only fair that PLL wins anyways considering the show is coming to an end.

FAVORITE CABLE TV ACTOR: Adam Devine, Freddie Highmore, Kevin Hart, Rami Malek, Zach Galifianakis

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Honestly, we at Celeb Secrets have no clue who will win this one! But, we would love to see Adam Devine win because”Workaholics” just entered their seventh and final. We’re rooting for you, Adam!

FAVORITE CABLE TV ACTRESS: Ashley Benson, Hilary Duff, Keri Russell, Lucy Hale, Vera Farmiga

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: For obvious reasons, Ashley Benson has got this one in the bag! Benson may be running against cast mate, Lucy Hale, in this category. However, to bring logic into the equation, Hanna is a fan favorite character and Benson is more relevant outside of PLL. Therefore, she has a bit of an advantage of Hale.

FAVORITE TV CRIME DRAMA: “The Blacklist”, “Criminal Minds”, “Law & Order: SVU”, “Lucifer”, “NCIS”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Although this is another sticky category, “Law & Order: SVU” will most likely come out on top because it is the longest running show competing in this category. It’s lasted this long for a reason!

FAVORITE TV CRIME DRAMA ACTOR: Chris O’Donnell, Donnie Wahlberg, LL Cool J, Mark Harmon,  Tom Selleck

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: This category could potentially go either way. But, in the spirit of predicting a winner, LL Cool J is our top pick because NCIS is more awesome because of him.

FAVORITE TV CRIME DRAMA ACTRESS: Jennifer Lopez, Lucy Liu, Mariska Hargitay, Pauley Perrette, Sophia Bush

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: We at Celeb Secrets love Sophia Bush, but we feel that Jennifer Lopez has a better chance at nabbing the win on this one.

FAVORITE PREMIUM DRAMA SERIES: “Homeland”, “House of Cards”, “Narcos”, “Orange is the New Black”, “Power”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: “Orange is the New Black” is the MVP in this category because the show’s latest season was easily its best, most controversial yet. If it doesn’t pull a win, then we have lost all faith in humanity!

FAVORITE PREMIUM COMEDY SERIES: “Fuller House”, “The Mindy Project”, “Shameless”, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”, “Veep”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: We at Celeb Secrets love “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” because Kimmy is the most adorable human. Plus, her fiercely fabulous sidekick/roomie Titus provides us with endless quotes to use within our daily lives. Therefore, we are rooting for “Kimmy Schmidt”

FAVORITE PREMIUM SERIES ACTOR: Aziz Ansari, Dwayne Johnson, Joshua Jackson, Kevin Spacey, Nick Jonas

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Nick Jonas has a strong chance in this category because who doesn’t love this guy? What can’t he do?

FAVORITE PREMIUM SERIES ACTRESS: Claire Danes, Jane Fonda, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Sarah Jessica Parker, Taylor Schilling

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: This year, Taylor Schilling has the best chance at winning within this category because of her epic fourth season on “Orange is the new Black”. Schilling gave a stellar performance within the role and deserves all the recognition that comes her way.

FAVORITE NETWORK SCI-FI/FANTASY TV SHOW: “Arrow”, “The Flash”, “Once Upon a Time”, “Supernatural”, “The Vampire Diaries”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Again, we find ourselves in a pickle with another tricky category. However, we believe that “Arrow” will be the reigning champ this go round and beating its CW counterparts.

FAVORITE CABLE SCI-FI/FANTASY TV SHOW:  “American Horror Story”, “Orphan Black”, “Shadowhunters”, “Teen Wolf”, “The Walking Dead”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: “American Horror Story” will win this category to the point where there’s no real reason for the other nominees to show up and face embarrassment from losing.

FAVORITE PREMIUM SCI-FI/FANTASY SERIES: “Game of Thrones”, “Marvel’s Luke Cage”, “Outlander”, “Stranger Things”, “Westworld”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Although we believe this will be a toss up between “Game of Thrones” and “Stranger Things”, the Netflix show could potentially have a surprise win.

FAVORITE SCI-FI/FANTASY TV ACTOR: Andrew Lincoln, Ian Somerhalder, Jensen Ackles, Sam Heughan, Tyler Posey

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Ian Somerhalder, Jensen Ackles, or Tyler Posey–it’s a tough call. But, our money is on Somerhalder only because he is slightly more well-known and “The Vampire Diaries” has been a fan favorite for years.

FAVORITE SCI-FI/FANTASY TV ACTRESS: Caitriona Balfe, Emilia Clarke, Jennifer Morrison, Lauren Cohan, Millie Bobby Brown

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: If Millie Bobby Brown wasn’t included as a nominee in this category, we would have automatically said that Emilia Clarke is claiming the throne. But, Brown’s performance on “Stranger Things” is so perfect to the point where she deserves the win more than anyone else nominated alongside her.

FAVORITE COMPETITION TV SHOW: “America’s Got Talent”, “American Ninja Warrior”, “Dancing with the Stars”, “Masterchef”, “The Voice”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: “America Ninja Warrior” is truly making a dent with viewers during it’s normal air time and through reruns. Plus, it’s very different from most notable competition show’s to date. Therefore, we think the fun and fresh show will win this round.

FAVORITE DAYTIME TV HOST: Dr. Phil, Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Ripa, Rachael Ray, Steve Harvey

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”  is currently the most viewed daytime talk show. Plus, DeGeneres possesses a great deal of star power. Therefore, this award will unsurprisingly–but fairly–swim her way

FAVORITE DAYTIME TV HOSTING TEAM: “The Chew”, “Good Morning America”, “The Talk”, “Today”, “The View”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: For obvious reasons, we chose “Good Morning America” as our winner because it’s proven to be the strongest show amongst the pack.

FAVORITE LATE NIGHT TALK SHOW HOST: Conan O’Brien, James Corden, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Jimmy Fallon is the most viewed talk show host on late night television for a reason. He’s funny, charming, likable, and he has great skits on his shows. Therefore, this will be an unsurprising, but deserved win for Fallon.

FAVORITE ANIMATED TV SHOW: “American Dad!”, “Bob’s Burgers”, “Family Guy”, “The Simpsons”, “South Park”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Celeb Secrets has decided to boldly declare “Bob’s Burgers” as the winner because it’s quirky sense of humor has managed to win us over from day one.

FAVORITE ACTOR IN A NEW TV SERIES: Damon Wayans, Kevin James, Kiefer Sutherland, Matt LeBlanc, Milo Ventimiglia

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Since “This Is Us” has proven to be a surprise smash-hit this television season, we believe that Milo Ventimiglia will take the win.

FAVORITE ACTRESS IN A NEW TV SERIES: Jordana Brewster, Kristen Bell, Mandy Moore, Minnie Driver, Piper Perabo

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Again, this is another extremely sticky category. Although we love Kristen Bell, Mandy Moore will get a lot of support in this category from loyal fans of  “This Is Us”.

FAVORITE NEW TV COMEDY: “American Housewife”, “The Good Place”, “The Great Indoors”, “Kevin Can Wait”, “Man with a Plan”, “Son of Zorn”, “Speechless”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Since we adore Kristen Bell and her new show so much, we’re putting our money where our mouth is and selecting “The Good Place” as our top choice to win. Her comedic timing alongside her chemistry with costar Ted Danson merit her winning this award.

FAVORITE NEW TV DRAMA: “Bull”, “Conviction”, “Designated Survivor”, “The Exorcist”, “Frequency”, “Lethal Weapon”, “MacGyver”, “No Tomorrow”, “Notorious”, “Pitch”, “Pure Genius”, “This Is Us”, “Timeless”

WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Although we love “Pitch” because of it’s fresh take on a show within the sports genre, we believe “This Is Us” will hit a home run. The NBC drama has resonated well with fans and critics alike as they’ve fallen in love with it more and more as the show goes on, and we can’t blame anyone for loyally supporting this show.
