It’s been 14 years since That’s So Raven premiered on the Disney Channel, however its legacy still continues today.
Back in July, the network introduced Raven’s Home, a spinoff of the hit  comedy series. Raven’s Home picks up with longtime best friends Raven (Raven-Symoné) and Chelsea (Anneliese van der Pol), who are now each divorced with kids of their own, raising their children – Raven’s 11-year-old twins Booker (Isaac Ryan Brown) and Nia (Navia Robinson), and Chelsea’s 9-year-old son Levi (Jason Maybaum) – under one roof, in a chaotic but fun household that often includes the twin’s best friend and neighbor Tess (Sky Katz).
Unbeknownst to her kids, Raven still catches glimpses of the future, and unbeknownst to her, Booker has just learned he has these same abilities. Hilarity ensues as Raven and Booker’s visions collide, but no matter the situation, they figure everything out together as one big happy family.
Celeb Secrets caught up with Katz recently to chat about working on such an amazing show. In the Q&A below, the actress/rapper tells us her favorite memory from filming the show, a BTS secret from set, and what she thinks makes Tess such a great friend to Nia and Booker.
Make sure to catch new episodes of Raven’s Home on Fridays @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel. On tonight’s episode, Booker and Levi want expensive virtual reality goggles, so the boys come up with a plan to make money by selling snacks at school.
Celeb Secrets: You are currently starring in Disney’s new show “Raven’s Home†can you tell us about your character?
Sky Katz: “Tess is a non-nonsense kind of girl who loves her friends and stays true to her mom…even though from what we’ve seen so far, her mom is nuts!”
CS: Are you anything like Tess?
SK: We have many similarities: We’re both loyal friends who are supportive and will always be there for them. I’m also pretty sarcastic like Tess in real life too.
CS: Tess is best friends with Nia and Booker. What do you think makes her a great best friend?
SK: “She’s tough on the outside, but when a time comes where one of her friends needs something, she is always there for them.”
CS: Raven’s Home is based on “That’s So Raven†— have you had the chance to watch any That’s So Raven episodes?
SK: “Absolutely, I have watched them all! For so many years my older siblings were hooked on That’s So Raven so it was on our TV constantly.”
CS: Is there person you’d love to have guest star on “Raven’s Home?â€
SK: “I’d love to have Selena Gomez guest star. I would freak out!”
What can we expect from upcoming episodes?
SK: “You can expect a lot of laughs and the kids (and parents) to keep getting themselves into wacky situations!”
CS: Do you have a favorite memory from filming the show?
SK: “I loved filming the episode where we had a huge trampoline on set. One time when no one was looking, we jumped around on it. It was so much fun!”
CS: Since we are Celeb Secrets, can you share a BTS secret from filming the show that people wouldn’t know when they watch it?
SK: “Sometimes we’ll have to film a scene over and over again because we’re all laughing at each other too much. The whole cast is so funny!”
