Banks brought lots of girl power to the Budweiser Made In America festival on Sunday evening (September 6) and we were able to watch the soulful R&B princess’ set with our own eyes!
Before Banks even began her 45-minute set, the entire crowd surrounding the Liberty Stage was chanting her name. When she walked onstage, the screams were deafening. In a super cute black ensemble, the 27-year-old kicked things off with her latest single, “Alibi,” and then “This Is What it Feels Like.” In the middle of the set, Banks noted that her debut album Goddess just turned a year old the day before, resulting in a stellar performance of the album’s title track. After belting it out to bunch of other tracks off the album, Banks closed with her hit “Beggin’ For Thread.”
This was the first time we saw Banks perform live and we have to say we were pretty impressed! We loved the entire atmosphere — the fans, the music, and the message behind Banks. Banks’ theme throughout her music is to embrace everything about your own mind and to always feel powerful. Whether the person listening to her music feel weak, strong, crazy or inclusive, Banks wants them to feel powerful no matter what little beasts they have in their heads and we support her vision 100%. We finally understand why music fans and other news outlets have been raving about her so much — she’s so talented and bad-ass!
In other news, Banks performed to massive crowds at almost every major festival this summer, including Lollapalooza, Osheaga, Vulture Festival, Bestival and Pemberton. She will also be opening up for The Weeknd for his Beauty Behind the Madness fall tour in select cities and is currently working on the follow-up to her chart-topping full-length debut album, GODDESS [Harvest].
