Stacey Ryan Reflects on Wild Musical Journey All Thanks to Viral TikTok Videos (Exclusive)

Last year, soulful pop singer Stacey Ryan used platforms like TikTok to introduce her heartfelt music — including the cheeky “Don’t Text Me When You’re Drunk” — to the world.

After obtaining viral stardom literally overnight, the 22-year-old launched an “Open Verse” challenge on the popular video sharing app, leading to late night host Jimmy Fallon joining in on the fun during a sketch on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

“’Don’t Text Me When You’re Drunk’ kind of went viral and after everything happened with that, I was like, ‘this is never going to happen again;’ like this was my moment and I made peace with it,” Stacey tells Celeb Secrets reporter Ilana Epstein in an exclusive interview.

Wanting to keep the bar set high, the 22-year-old went on to release her latest single “Fall In Love Alone,” which — to no surprise — shattered her first record and became even more popular than her previous release. The sound has been used in over 1.2 million videos on TikTok and the number keeps climbing each day. Additionally, “Fall In Love Alone” has a “sped-up” version that’s perfect for your next viral video.

Working with Laura Anderson and Victor Franco for the track, Ryan tells Celeb Secrets that “Fall In Love Alone” was inspired by her own drunk texting experience and first came together with chords followed by lyrics. She also mentioned that she wishes that she remembered more of the writing session, stating “I didn’t know that this was an iconic moment in the making.”

With a bubbly personality and soulful hooks, Stacey Ryan is bound to be a “one to watch” in 2023. Inspired by 50s and 70s music played by her father at home, the 22-year-old credits elements of funk, soul, and neo-soul when talking about the composition of her unique sound.

Both excited and grateful for her musical journey so far, Ryan says that she is truly doing her “dream job” by being an artist.

“I’m doing my like my dream job at 22 years old and I was able to like move out of my parents’ house and I could support myself like I feel like I have in a moment with that every day,” she said with a smile, before adding, “I don’t want to say everything, but I owe a lot to TikTok.”

As for what’s next, Stacey is busy in Southeast Asia on a massive mall tour while gearing up for the release of her new song titled “Over Tonight.” While she can’t mention when it will be released, the viral singer/songwriter tells Celeb Secrets that it’s coming “soon” with more original material dropping early next year.
