For Stephanie Beatriz, recording a song for Disney’s Encanto was truly a miracle and a wild experience.
In a recent interview with Variety, the 41-year-old actress revealed that while recording one of the film’s most touching and emotional songs “Waiting on a Miracle,” she was actually in labor.
“I didn’t want to tell anybody at Disney because I didn’t want anyone to freak out,” Beatriz explained. “I was already having some contractions when we were scheduled to record that day. I was like, ‘Well, fingers crossed I finish the song before [the baby] comes!'”

And although Beatriz (who plays Mirabel in the film) did record the track while in labor, she and her husband Brad Hoss welcomed their daughter, Rosaline, the next day.
Director Byron Howard also spoke to Variety, revealing that they knew her due date was close, however, they weren’t aware of how close it would come to their recording process.
“We knew she was very, very, very, very ready to have that baby,” Howard revealed. “But she did not tell us she was almost, almost ready.”
Even with the challenges that came with the recording process, both the song and the soundtrack have been successful. The movie’s official soundtrack took over music charts such as the Billboard 200 chart, where it has spent nine weeks and number 1.
